Performance of the job duties and responsibilities result in assisting the customer programs in their efforts to accomplish Department goals. This position aides in construction activities within the Program and ensures the permitting, wetland components, and compliance of construction projects funded by the Capital Budget and other funding sources, supporting WDFW activities statewide in all counties based on budget allocations. Environmental permitting and wetland services are vital processes for implementing capital projects and projects cannot move forward without these services.<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>With that in mind,\u00a0<br \/><\/em><\/strong><strong><em>Picture yourself,\u00a0<\/em><\/strong>assisting in the preparation of documents necessary to obtain needed permits to support WDFW construction activities statewide.<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>This is an opportunity\u00a0<\/em><\/strong>to assist in assuring compliance with environmental permits and wetland investigations necessary for agency construction projects.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>In this dynamic role,\u00a0<\/em><\/strong>perform wetland delineations, water quality sampling including pH, turbidity, and dissolved oxygen, or other site samples.<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>You are excited to\u00a0<\/em><\/strong>attend meetings and trainings and serve as an advocate for WDFW projects.<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>We are seeking a candidate,<\/em><\/strong>\u00a0with effective communication skills as well as adaptability and flexibility.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><strong>Duties<br \/><\/strong><strong><em>Our Wetland Environmental Planner will,<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Assist with planning and fieldwork for wetland delineations throughout the state.\u00a0<\/li>\n<li>Perform field and office work associated with wetland delineations. Review research, analyze and record data, and write wetland delineation reports.<\/li>\n<li>Utilize GIS for data reporting.<\/li>\n<li>Complete data forms and wetland rating forms during and after field activities.\u00a0<\/li>\n<li>Prepare and submit wetland delineation reports to assist with the preparation of permit application packages.<\/li>\n<li>Perform seining, sampling, and removal of aquatic species from active construction areas. This includes cataloging and maintaining accurate records.<\/li>\n<li>Coordinate with environmental planners to determine site constraints, county requirements, and wetland delineation and mitigation requirements for new projects.<\/li>\n<li>Maintain knowledge of current environmental regulations.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>WORKING CONDITIONS:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul type=\"disc\">\n<li><strong>Work Setting, including hazards:<\/strong>\n<ul type=\"circle\">\n<li>Duties are performed in an office setting, construction sites, and in-water work (Hatcheries and Wildlife Areas)<\/li>\n<li>Maneuver over uneven terrain including slippery footing, mud, and other challenging field conditions; steep slopes for extended periods; inclement weather conditions; must be able to climb ladders, work from boats, and elevated locations.\u00a0<\/li>\n<li>This position also requires moderate computer use.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li><strong>Schedule:<\/strong>\n<ul type=\"circle\">\n<li>Standard business hours are Monday \u2013 Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Workload may require the incumbent to adjust the work schedule to meet business needs.\u00a0<\/li>\n<li>A flexible work schedule and remote work will be considered at the incumbent\u2019s request, subject to supervisory approval.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li><strong>Travel Requirements:<\/strong>\n<ul type=\"circle\">\n<li>This position requires substantial field time and travel throughout Washington. Long field days and some overnight stays are likely.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li><strong>Tools and Equipment:<\/strong>\n<ul type=\"circle\">\n<li>Work includes operation of pickup trucks, digital camera, computer, and standard laboratory equipment including water quality probes and turbidity kits. \u00a0\u00a0<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li><strong>Customer Interactions:<\/strong>\n<ul type=\"circle\">\n<li>Position will interact with public while accessing work areas.\u00a0<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS<br \/><\/strong>Closely related qualifying experience may be substituted for the required education on a year-by-year basis.<\/p>\n<div>\n<ul>\n<li>An Associate\u2019s degree with an emphasis\/specialty in wetlands, fisheries, wildlife management, natural resource science, environmental science, or related field.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n<p><strong>AND\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<div>\n<ul>\n<li>TWO (2) years of professional experience performing or assisting with wetland delineations, fish management or fish research, wildlife management or wildlife research, habitat management or habitat research, natural resource planning, or equivalent field.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n<p><strong>OR<\/strong><\/p>\n<div>\n<ul>\n<li>A Bachelor\u2019s degree in wetland ecology and management, fisheries, wildlife management, natural resource science, or environmental science, or related field.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n<p><strong>AND\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<div>\n<ul>\n<li>Three (3) months of an internship or hands-on professional experience performing or assisting with wetland delineations, fish management or fish research, wildlife management or wildlife research, habitat management or habitat research, natural resource planning, or
