{"id":49384,"date":"2023-05-15T09:27:00","date_gmt":"2023-05-15T16:27:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/sites.evergreen.edu\/mesweekly\/?p=49384"},"modified":"2023-05-11T09:27:54","modified_gmt":"2023-05-11T16:27:54","slug":"job-edmonds-community-crew-leader-student-conservation-association-edmonds-wa","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/sites.evergreen.edu\/mesweekly\/job-edmonds-community-crew-leader-student-conservation-association-edmonds-wa\/","title":{"rendered":"Job: Edmonds Community Crew Leader, Student Conservation Association (Edmonds, WA)"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p><strong>Job Type:<\/strong> Temporary<br \/><strong>Compensation:\u202f<\/strong>$840\/week total salary, paid training<br \/><strong>Program <\/strong><strong>Dates<\/strong>:<strong>\u202f <\/strong>July 5th \u2013 August 16th, 2022\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The Student Conservation Association (SCA), America\u2019s #1 conservation service organization seeks qualified applicants to lead, educate, and inspire Edmonds students for the community crew summer program.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><strong>Training Dates:<\/strong>\u00a0<strong>\u00a0<\/strong>\u00a0<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>West Coast in-person Training: June 20th \u2013 June 24th (housing, food, transportation provided)\u00a0\u00a0<\/li>\n<li>Local Training: June 27th \u2013 July 1st (mandatory paid training)\u00a0\u00a0<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Primary\u202fResponsibilities:<\/strong>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Lead, supervise, transport, and mentor a team of 5 high school youth, ages 14-19 for five weeks (Mon-Fri). Complete an assortment of hands-on conservation projects including trail construction and rehabilitation, natural resource enhancements, and general trail management across multiple Edmonds Parks and Recreation sites. Plan and lead weekly educational field days and integrate career exploration, leadership development, and team building. Administrative and reporting duties are required as they relate to data management, photo documentation, and youth assessments. Crew leaders will also be expected to facilitate a provided environmental education curriculum.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Crew Leaders will conduct daily health screening questionnaires with their members and monitor all work activities to ensure that participants are following COVID-19 safety protocols.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><strong>Specifically, the Crew Leader will:\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li data-leveltext=\"\uf0b7\" data-font=\"Symbol\" data-listid=\"5\" data-aria-posinset=\"1\" data-aria-level=\"1\">Act as a <strong>Crew<\/strong> <strong>Supervisor,<\/strong>\u202fby facilitating\u202fteamwork, managing field-based tasks, and guiding crew dynamics\u00a0<\/li>\n<li data-leveltext=\"\uf0b7\" data-font=\"Symbol\" data-listid=\"3\" data-aria-posinset=\"2\" data-aria-level=\"1\">Serve as an <strong>Advisor,<\/strong> by training members in technical conservation work skills, mentoring personal and professional development, and teaching environmental stewardship\u00a0\u00a0<\/li>\n<li>Act as a <strong>Project Manager<\/strong>, by communicating with agency park partners, ensuring successful and timely completion of work projects, and upholding a positive representation of SCA\u00a0<\/li>\n<li>Perform tasks as a\u202f<strong>Program Administrator,<\/strong>\u202fby organizing logistics, completing documentation, managing a\u202fbudget, and communicating with SCA staff\u00a0<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Qualifications:<\/strong>\u00a0<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li data-leveltext=\"\uf0b7\" data-font=\"Symbol\" data-listid=\"2\" data-aria-posinset=\"2\" data-aria-level=\"1\">Experience working with youth or young adults [ages 14-19], teaching or environmental education a plus\u00a0<\/li>\n<li>Experience with conservation work skills or related skills preferred \u2013 i.e. trail maintenance, trail construction, habitat restoration, chainsaw, carpentry, landscaping, and gardening\u00a0<\/li>\n<li>Ability to perform manual, physical labor for up to 8 hours per day, exposed to the elements and most occasionally lift and\/or move 40 pounds or more\u00a0<\/li>\n<li>Current First Aid and CPR certification required by the start of training\u00a0<\/li>\n<li>Must be able to attend Crew Leader training: 6\/20\/22\u2013 6\/24\/22, and 6\/27\/22 \u2013 7\/1\/22\u00a0<\/li>\n<li>Must be a minimum of 21 years of age\u00a0<\/li>\n<li>Must have ability to legally work in the US\u00a0<\/li>\n<li>Must have a valid driver\u2019s license for 3+ years and MVR that meets SCA standards\u00a0<\/li>\n<li>Must be able to meet SCA\u2019s criminal background check standards\u00a0<\/li>\n<li data-leveltext=\"\uf0b7\" data-font=\"Symbol\" data-listid=\"2\" data-aria-posinset=\"2\" data-aria-level=\"1\">Must have local housing arrangements\u00a0\u00a0<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline\">To Apply<\/span><br \/><\/strong>Click <a href=\"http:\/\/thesca.force.com\/members\">Login<\/a> or <a href=\"http:\/\/thesca.force.com\/members\/NewRegistration\">Sign Up<\/a>.
