Through regulatory enforcement, export certification and planting stock certification programs, Plant Services ensures a consistent source of value added agricultural products are available to our trading partners in domestic and foreign markets.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The\u00a0<strong>Fruit Tree<\/strong>\u00a0<strong>Agricultural Aide<\/strong> will conduct greenhouse and field virus index testing and maintaining equipment and facilities. The Agricultural Aid completes the peak season work for the Fruit Tree Certification Project by preparing material for laboratory testing and occasionally helping to run the actual tests and inoculate plants for biological indexing. This position also helps with planting, propagating and maintaining trees in the field and greenhouse.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><strong>Position and Salary Information<br \/><\/strong>WSDA is recruiting for a\u00a0<u>non-permanent<\/u>\u00a0 full-time<strong>\u00a0Fruit Tree\u00a0Agricultural Aide\u00a0<\/strong>position within the Plant Services Program in the Plant Protection Division. This position is located in Prosser, Washington and is represented by the Washington Federation of State Employees.<\/p>\n<p>The base pay offered will take into account internal equity and may vary depending on the preferred candidate&#8217;s job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The typical starting salary range for these positions is: $15.89\u00a0 Step D &#8211; $19.09\u00a0Step L hourly.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><strong>Duties<br \/><\/strong><strong>Some of what you will do:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Graft and inoculate plants in the field and greenhouse.\u00a0<\/li>\n<li>Plant material sorting and sampling.\u00a0<\/li>\n<li>Laboratory sample preparation and data entry.<\/li>\n<li>Prune and train trees, as well as mow grass, weed fields.<\/li>\n<li>General cleaning and maintenance of greenhouse and laboratory.\u00a0<\/li>\n<li>Haul equipment trailer.\u00a0<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Qualifications<br \/><\/strong><strong>Required Qualifications:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>\n<p>Must be able to sort and track different plant samples, and keep accurate records.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>Must be able to communicate effectively, verbally and in writing.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>Must be able to work in field conditions and inclement or hot weather, standing for long periods, and walking on uneven or steep ground.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>Must be able to safely operate farming, greenhouse and laboratory equipment.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>\u00a0Valid unrestricted driver\u2019s license.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>Graduation from high school or GED.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline\"><strong>How to apply<\/strong><\/span><br \/>You must complete your <a href=\"https:\/\/www.governmentjobs.com\/careers\/washington\/jobs\/4025410\/fruit-tree-agricultural-aide\">careers.wa.gov<\/a> profile and answer the supplemental questions.
