Benefits include<br \/>PTO and holiday pay, 3% retirement match, health insurance, and flexible schedules.<br \/><strong>Work Location:<\/strong> King and Kitsap Counties, with the option to work remotely in the central<br \/>Puget Sound region or at the Mid Sound office located at Magnuson Park in North Seattle.<br \/>Must also be able to conduct field work at sites when necessary.<br \/><strong>Timeline:<\/strong> Opportunity open until filled. Please email a<br \/>cover letter and resume to antonia@midsoundfisheries.org.<\/p>\n<p><strong><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">QUALIFICATIONS<\/span><\/strong><br role=\"presentation\" \/><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">1.<\/span> <span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">Minimum education: Master\u2019s degree in related field, or an alternative combination of<\/span><br role=\"presentation\" \/><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">education and professional certification;<\/span><br role=\"presentation\" \/><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">2.<\/span> <span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">5+ years relevant work experience in funding\/implementing salmon habitat restoration<\/span><br role=\"presentation\" \/><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">projects, managing consultants and contracts, grant writing, and landowner\/stakeholder<\/span><br role=\"presentation\" \/><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">outreach and partnership-building;<\/span><br role=\"presentation\" \/><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">3.<\/span> <span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">Able to occasionally work outdoors and move across uneven and\/or wet terrain on<\/span><br role=\"presentation\" \/><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">beaches and along streams;<\/span><br role=\"presentation\" \/><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">4.<\/span> <span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">Access to personal vehicle and ability to travel for work, sometimes during evenings or<\/span><br role=\"presentation\" \/><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">weekends (reimbursed for mileage at the current WA State rate).<br \/><\/span><br role=\"presentation\" \/><strong><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">DESIRED SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE<\/span><\/strong><br role=\"presentation\" \/><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">1.<\/span> <span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">Knowledge of salmon habitat and coastal\/fluvial habitat forming processes, restoration<\/span><br role=\"presentation\" \/><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">techniques, native riparian plants, and Pacific Northwest ecosystems;<\/span><br role=\"presentation\" \/><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">2.<\/span> <span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">Significant habitat restoration project management experience including instream,<\/span><br role=\"presentation\" \/><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">nearshore, and fish barrier removal construction project experience;<\/span><br role=\"presentation\" \/><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">3.<\/span> <span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">Familiarity with the Lead Entity and Local Integrating Organizations processes that guide<\/span><br role=\"presentation\" \/><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">salmon recovery in our region.<\/span><br role=\"presentation\" \/><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">4.<\/span> <span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">Proven ability to foster a collaborative working environment amongst staff, partners,<\/span><br role=\"presentation\" \/><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">community members and stakeholders from diverse backgrounds;<\/span><br \/><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">5.<\/span> <span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">Exceptional written and oral communication abilities, ideally with demonstrated<\/span><br role=\"presentation\" \/><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">successful grant-writing experience;<\/span><br role=\"presentation\" \/><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">6.<\/span> <span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">Ability to develop and track project budgets and schedules;<\/span><br role=\"presentation\" \/><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">7.<\/span> <span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">Excellent problem-solving and conflict-resolution skills;<\/span><br role=\"presentation\" \/><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">8.<\/span> <span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">Proficient in using computers to write reports and grant proposals, track data and<\/span><br role=\"presentation\" \/><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">budgets, use project management software, communicate with others through email or<\/span><br role=\"presentation\" \/><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">video conferencing, prepare and give presentations, and other tasks as needed.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">RESPONSIBILITIES<\/span><\/strong><br role=\"presentation\" \/><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">The Habitat Restoration Program Director is a senior staff position that directs and leads<\/span><br role=\"presentation\" \/><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">MSFEG\u2019s habitat restoration program. This person works in consultation with the Executive<\/span><br role=\"presentation\" \/><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">Director to lead the development and implementation of MSFEG\u2019s habitat restoration work<\/span><br role=\"presentation\" \/><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">throughout MSFEG\u2019s service area. This includes working with the Executive Director and the<\/span><br role=\"presentation\" \/><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">Board to prioritize strategic areas of focus for habitat restoration work, working with<\/span><br role=\"presentation\" \/><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">partners to develop strategic habitat restoration opportunities, securing grant funds for<\/span><br role=\"presentation\" \/><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">project development and implementation, and directly supervising Habitat Restoration<\/span><br role=\"presentation\" \/><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">Program staff. A majority of the funding for this position is grant funds which the Director is<\/span><br role=\"presentation\" \/><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">expected to help secure to maintain future funding for the position and the program.<\/span><br role=\"presentation\" \/><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">Supervise a Habitat Program staff team to implement the MSFEG habitat restoration<\/span><br role=\"presentation\" \/><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">strategy:<\/span><br role=\"presentation\" \/><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">\u25cf<\/span> <span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">Supervise and support the Habitat Restoration Program staff currently composed of<\/span><br role=\"presentation\" \/><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">5 Project and Program managers, working to ensure they are successful in their<\/span><br role=\"presentation\" \/><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">assigned work.<\/span><br role=\"presentation\" \/><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">\u25cf<\/span> <span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">Work to secure funds to implement priority habitat work and to support the Habitat<\/span><br role=\"presentation\" \/><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">Restoration Program staff team, in partnership with the team members.<\/span><br role=\"presentation\" \/><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">\u25cf<\/span> <span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">Advise and train staff on technical aspects of project management, including<\/span><br role=\"presentation\" \/><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">contracts, construction bidding, reviewing designs and engineering plans, and<\/span><br role=\"presentation\" \/><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">permitting.<\/span><br role=\"presentation\" \/><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">\u25cf<\/span> <span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">Apply expertise in salmon ecology to guide project staff in developing and<\/span><br role=\"presentation\" \/><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">implementing habitat restoration projects to benefit salmon recovery.<\/span><br role=\"presentation\" \/><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">Identify and develop strategic priority habitat restoration projects:<\/span><br role=\"presentation\" \/><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">\u25cf<\/span> <span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">Work with Executive Director and the Board to develop and maintain a list of MSFEG<\/span><br role=\"presentation\" \/><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">strategic habitat restoration priorities both for types of habitat restoration work and<\/span><br role=\"presentation\" \/><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">geographic areas of focus.<\/span><br \/><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">\u25cf<\/span> <span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">Collaborate with the Executive Director and program staff to prepare and implement<\/span><br role=\"presentation\" \/><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">a work plan to steward current partnerships and create new strategic partnerships<\/span><br role=\"presentation\" \/><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">that will support MSFEG habitat restoration program success.<\/span><br role=\"presentation\" \/><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">\u25cf<\/span> <span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">Participate in relevant watershed technical committees to remain up-to-date on<\/span><br role=\"presentation\" \/><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">evolving salmon recovery status and restoration priorities.<\/span><br role=\"presentation\" \/><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">\u25cf<\/span> <span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">Co-develop and oversee implementation of outreach and landowner recruitment<\/span><br role=\"presentation\" \/><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">strategies to find new projects with willing landowners in prioritized areas. Support<\/span><br role=\"presentation\" \/><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">landowners to understand the timelines, requirements and processes of potential<\/span><br role=\"presentation\" \/><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">funding sources.<\/span><br role=\"presentation\" \/><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">\u25cf<\/span> <span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">Build funding strategies for salmon recovery programs and projects, in partnership<\/span><br role=\"presentation\" \/><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">with the leadership team and Habitat Program staff. Actively pursue potential<\/span><br role=\"presentation\" \/><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">funding sources for high priority projects.
