Under the guidance of the Executive Director, the Development Director designs, implements, and evaluates development programs and public relations for Wolf Haven\u2019s diverse audiences and partners. This includes board members, current and prospective donors, corporations, granting organizations, foundations, and public groups across the west, particularly in Washington and Montana.<\/p>\n<p>The Development Director provides leadership on all fundraising initiatives including major gifts, planned giving, donor cultivation, and special events, while promoting Wolf Haven\u2019s humane ethics as a GFAS- accredited sanctuary. This work is critical to Wolf Haven\u2019s mission and will help the organization become more diverse, inclusive, and equitable. This is an exciting opportunity to join Wolf Haven\u2019s inspiring and energetic community with great potential for personal and professional growth.<\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline\">ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Apply knowledge of donor acquisition and retention strategy, major gifts and capital campaigns, direct mail marketing, social media, and grant writing to sustain and increase Wolf Haven\u2019s donor base<\/li>\n<li>Cultivate, steward, and secure financial support from diverse individuals, foundations, and corporations<\/li>\n<li>Develop and oversee timely donor acknowledgement strategy that encompasses best practices for all varying levels and frequencies of giving<\/li>\n<li>Coordinate donor solicitation with the Executive Director, Board of Directors, and other staff and volunteers as appropriate<\/li>\n<li>Plan and oversee Wolf Haven\u2019s fundraising events in collaboration with staff and volunteers<\/li>\n<li>Oversee donor database and track fundraising activities in Raiser\u2019s Edge\/NXT (including Online Express, Wealth Engine, and Events apps), apply metrics to track progress, and supervise staff responsible for data entry and gift processing<\/li>\n<li>Collaborate with Grants Manager on grant proposals and reports<\/li>\n<li>Perform administrative duties, analyze and report on development projects, and manage deadlines in accordance with established goals and objectives<\/li>\n<li>Occasionally lead organizational meetings and events, and contribute a unique, informed perspective<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline\"><strong>REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Personal alignment with and passion for Wolf Haven\u2019s mission and values<\/li>\n<li>A.\/B.S. required (M.A. or greater a plus)<\/li>\n<li>Minimum 5 years of experience in nonprofit development (CFRE and\/or AFP member a plus)<\/li>\n<li>Demonstrated excellence in organizational, managerial, communication, and critical thinking skills<\/li>\n<li>Adaptable self-starter and team-player able to manage multiple priorities as well as train, motivate, and supervise staff and volunteers<\/li>\n<li>Strong emotional intelligence, social and public speaking skills, an ability to empathize and connect with prospective donors, and the capacity to translate these skills into fundraising action<\/li>\n<li>Ability to attend and lead special events outside regular business hours and on weekends as necessary<\/li>\n<li>Proficiency in relevant computer applications (MS Office, Raiser\u2019s Edge, NXT, Zoom, social media, )<\/li>\n<li>Current WA State driver\u2019s license and insurance<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline\"><strong>COMPENSATION &amp; BENEFITS<br \/><\/strong><\/span>This is a great opportunity to join a dynamic and committed team in an important animal conservation and sanctuary environment! Just a few minutes south of the state capitol in Olympia, this ideal location offers access to a rich variety of social, cultural, and outdoor recreation opportunities in all directions \u2013 Olympia\u2019s thriving art and culinary culture is set adjacent to the South Puget Sound with boating, water sports, and great local parks; Seattle is just 1 hour away; and Portland, Olympic National Park, Mount Rainier National Park, the Pacific coast, and much more are all less than 2 hours away.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline\"><strong>ABOUT WOLF HAVEN INTERNATIONAL<br \/><\/strong><\/span>Wolf Haven is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that has worked for wolf conservation since 1982 under the mission <em>\u201cto conserve and protect wolves and their habitat.\u201d <\/em>Accredited by both the American Sanctuary Association (ASA) and the Global Federation of Animal Sanctuaries (GFAS), Wolf Haven has rescued and provided a lifetime home to over 300 animals at our locations in Tenino, Washington and Bridger, Montana. Our conservation efforts extend to the 82 acres of pristine Mima Mound prairie, wetlands, and woodlands at our Washington sanctuary, as we work to preserve and restore native plants, butterflies, birds, and mammals to the prairie.<\/p>\n<p>Because of our staff\u2019s experience, and our longevity as a wolf sanctuary, Wolf Haven has come to be regarded as a leader in humane wolf handling and management. Our education programs about wolves, ecosystems, and the value of all wildlife reach thousands of people each year through guided sanctuary visits as well as online, onsite, and offsite courses and presentations. All of Wolf Haven\u2019s curriculum incorporates STEM, STEAM, and Next Generation Science Standards principles.
