The SNAP-Ed Program Manager is responsible for supervising and managing staff to develop and implement a culturally sensitive nutrition education program that combines direct education with policy, system and environmental (PSE) change initiatives relating to healthy eating and active living among the limited-resource population in Grays Harbor and Mason Counties.<\/p>\n<div>\n<div>\n<div>\n<div>\n<p>The SNAP-Ed Program Manager works closely with the SNAP-Ed state staff, other WSU Extension staff and faculty, the SNAP-Ed Implementing Agency, and community partners to ensure activities meet the requirements of the Food and Nutrition Services (FNS) Guidance for SNAP-Ed.<\/p>\n<p>This position is part of WSU\u2019s annual contract for\u00a0SNAP-Ed, funded by the\u00a0USDA\u00a0FNS\u00a0SNAP-Ed Program. This is a temporary position expected to end on 9\/30\/2023. Renewal is dependent on satisfactory performance and annual background check, the need for Extension to complete the project and\/or if additional funding is secured to extend employment.<\/p>\n<p><b><span style=\"text-decoration: underline\">Required Qualifications<\/span> <br \/><\/b>A Bachelor\u2019s degree in a relevant extension program discipline and three (3) years of related program experience. A Masters degree in a related field may be substituted for up to one year of the required experience. Any combination of relevant education and experience may be substituted for the educational requirement on a year-for-year basis.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>\n<p>Related program experience could include public health, nutrition, education, family and consumer sciences, community development.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>Excellent interpersonal communication skills, with a demonstrated ability to communicate effectively using oral, written, and listening skills.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>Experience supervising staff and creating a positive and supportive work environment.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>Demonstrated knowledge of MS Suite (Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Word) Adobe Acrobat and the ability to adapt to new technologies and techniques.\u00a0<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>Ability to travel regionally and occasionally statewide.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>Ability to work a flexible, yet structured schedule with occasional nights and weekends.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>While using a private or\u00a0WSU-owned vehicle for official business, must have current automobile liability insurance (meeting requirements described in\u00a0RCW\u00a046.30.020 and\u00a0RCW\u00a046.29.090) and <i>possess a valid driver\u2019s license.<\/i><\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>Employment is contingent upon passing a\u00a0WSU\u00a0background screening.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>Must be able to obtain within 14 days of hire a valid Washington State Food Hander\u2019s Permit.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><b>Preferred Qualifications:<\/b><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>\n<p>Lived experience, or experience working with diverse communities using a strengths-based approach, showing sensitivity to those who experience poverty, racism, marginalization, and trauma.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>Strong commitment to improving food access and opportunities for physical activity.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>Experience assessing community needs and evaluating community projects.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>Demonstrated ability to work independently, especially in the development of innovative projects.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>Demonstrated experience working successfully as a team member.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>Experience working with tribal and\/or Latino communities.\u00a0<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><b>Background Check: <\/b>This position has been designated by the department to require a background check because it requires access to children or vulnerable adults as defined by RCW 74.34, engages in law enforcement, requires security clearance, interacts with WSU students in a counseling or advising capacity, has access to personal identifying and\/or financial information, unsupervised access to university buildings\/property, or other business-related need.\u00a0\u00a0A background check will not be completed until an initial determination of qualification for employment has been made.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline\"><b>Application Instructions<\/b><\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>\n<p>Applicants must upload the following documents to their online application.\u00a0<b>External candidates<\/b>, please upload all documents in the<b>\u00a0\u201cResume\/CV\u201d\u00a0<\/b>section of your application.\u00a0\u00a0<b>Internal candidates<\/b>, please upload all documents in the\u00a0<b>\u201cResume\/Cover Letter\u201d<\/b>\u00a0section of your application.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>\n<p>Resume<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>DOC 2<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>DOC 3<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>Documents may be submitted in one file or separate files.
