At our native plant nursery, interns perform tasks such as weed control, watering, native plant propagation, small structural updates, and more. The plants that come from our nursery go to our riparian restoration projects led by staff, volunteers, and students all over the Skagit and Samish watersheds.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline\"><strong>Qualifications<br \/><\/strong><\/span> Applicants should have a background and interest in environmental science\/studies, biology, native plant horticulture, gardening, and\/or outdoor recreation. Applicant must be able to identify or must be willing to learn to identify native Pacific Northwest plants. Applicants must have the ability to work with volunteers and provide personal vehicle for transportation. This position requires work outside in all types of weather and uneven terrain, and applicant must have the ability to lift up to 40 lbs. Proof of COVID vaccination will be required.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline\"><strong>Time C<\/strong><strong>ommitment<\/strong><\/span> <br \/>This is a paid internship for qualified applicants and requires a time commitment of 2-3 days a week between 7-8 hours a day, Monday-Saturday. Interns may spend at least one day a week in our nursery and one day a week in the field conducting vegetation monitoring. <strong>Positions available (commitment to full term is desirable):<\/strong> April \u2013 August or June \u2013 August. <strong>Total commitment:<\/strong> 150-300 hours, to be established with academic advisor and SFEG.
