In addition to building, maintaining, and operating the state highway system, WSDOT operates the largest ferry system in the nation, manages the world&#8217;s longest floating bridge, and recently completed the world&#8217;s widest tunneling project.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline\"><strong>The Opportunity<br \/><\/strong><\/span>WSDOT\u2019s Northwest Region (NWR) is currently seeking an engineering professional to serve an integral role as Right of Way Update Engineer. This position will support WSDOT\u2019s mission of highway design, construction, and right of way by preparing survey records, right of way plans, and other documents.<\/p>\n<p><strong>What to Expect<br \/><\/strong>Among the varied range of responsibilities held within this role, the\u00a0Right of Way Engineer\u00a0will:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Prepare and draft record of surveys, right of way plans, monumentation maps, permits to destroy monuments, and other documents.\u00a0<\/li>\n<li>Review and adjust plans using CAD, and add pertinent information to databases.\u00a0<\/li>\n<li>Determine data collection needs as well as accurate, efficient, and safe operation of crews.\u00a0<\/li>\n<li>Train others to utilize WSDOT software and assist in solving computer related issues.\u00a0<\/li>\n<li>Answer questions and respond to inquiries from construction, design, maintenance, and real estate services offices.\u00a0<\/li>\n<li>Prepare documents, plans, and records as needed.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline\"><strong>Qualifications<br \/><\/strong><\/span>To be considered for this opportunity, the following are <u>required<\/u>:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Engineer in Training (EIT) certification and one (1) year of experience as a Transportation Engineer 1, Transportation Technician 3, Bridge Engineer 1, or equivalent experience in Right of Way plans. <em>OR<\/em><\/li>\n<li>Two years of experience as a Transportation Engineer 1, Transportation Technician 3, Bridge Engineer 1, or equivalent experience in Right of Way plans, <em>OR<\/em><\/li>\n<li>Master\u2019s degree with a major study in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering, Soil Mechanics, Traffic, Transportation, or closely related field.\u00a0<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>In addition to:\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Current driver\u2019s license<\/li>\n<li>Ability to read and interpret survey records, right of way plans, contract plans, and other survey documents.\u00a0<\/li>\n<li>Ability to develop record of surveys, monument maps, right of way plans, land corner records, permits to destroy monuments and other survey drawings\/exhibits.\u00a0<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Important Notes\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul class=\"decimal_type\">\n<li>This recruitment may also be used to fill additional positions per business needs.<\/li>\n<li>This position offers flexible\/hybrid work options<\/li>\n<li>By issuance of proclamation, the Governor of Washington State mandates that all employees who work for executive cabinet agencies (which includes the Department of Transportation) must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19.
