Continuation of employment is dependent upon program\/operational needs, satisfactory work performance, availability of funds, and compliance with applicable Federal\/State laws.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline\"><strong>Job Description<br \/><\/strong><\/span> Coordinates and supervises field teams for field research and management projects.<\/p>\n<p>Field activities include, but are not limited to: regular mosquito population monitoring and carrying out a mark-release-recapture (MRR) study to evaluate survival and dispersal distance of mosquitoes;\u00a0 assessing relative abundance or density of wild Culex population; regularly deploying Wolbachia Incompatible Insect Technique (IIT) mosquitoes throughout East Maui including in Haleakala National Park (NP), Hanawi Natural Area Reserve, and Waikamoi Preserve; and monitoring and collecting Wolbachia IIT mosquitoes and wild Culex mosquitoes in release areas.<\/p>\n<p>Directs, supervises, and assigns work to PCSU\/MFBRP Mosquito Research staff. Provides oversight, instruction, and guidance for a team of up to nine (9) members (including interns and volunteers).\u00a0 Coordinates and schedules all logistics for field operations.<\/p>\n<p>Conducts fieldwork and monitors the deployment of landscape scale mosquito control.<\/p>\n<p>Ensures thorough entry of field and Geographic Information System (GIS) data and records into computer files and databases for information summary and reporting.<\/p>\n<p>Tracks budgets and expenses, and provides grant reports.<\/p>\n<p>Recruits full-time staff, seasonal staff, interns, and volunteers.<\/p>\n<p>Procures equipment, and assures maintenance of project vehicles and care of project equipment.<\/p>\n<p>Manages data entry and database.<\/p>\n<p>Writes reports for funders and partners.<\/p>\n<p>Conducts data analysis, drafting of reports, and presentations at meetings.<\/p>\n<p>Drives to field activities and field work sites.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline\"><strong>Qualifications<br \/><\/strong><\/span> Bachelor\u2019s Degree from an accredited four (4) year college or university in Biological Sciences, Natural Resource Management, or related field.<\/p>\n<p>Two to four (2-4) years of experience conducting ecological field research.<\/p>\n<p>Experience must include at least one (1) year experience supervising or overseeing staff. Includes experience in project management and administration.<\/p>\n<p>Knowledge in the principles and techniques of conservation biology,\u00a0 entomology, conservation management, and remote field operations.<\/p>\n<p>Proficient knowledge of techniques used to inventory and monitor wildlife, and other natural resource assets.<\/p>\n<p>Knowledge of management principles including, but not limited to, supervising\/developing employees, EEO, workplace safety, corrective\/disciplinary actions, and administration of policies and procedures.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline\"><strong>Abilities &amp; Skills<br \/><\/strong><\/span> Excellent organizational and leadership skills. Excellent communication skills, both orally and in writing. Ability to organize, lead, and train others, including volunteers. Ability to keep records and prepare reports. Proficient in Global Positioning System (GPS) and Geographic Information Systems (GIS). Ability to perform basic statistical analysis.
