Description
<\/strong><\/span>Puget Sound Estuarium is currently hiring for a full time Communications and Development Coordinator to start as early as 1\/5\/2023. The position pays $20.00\/hour for 40 hours a week and includes paid vacation and sick leave benefits. The Estuarium is a non-profit, environmental education organization and aquarium located in downtown Olympia, WA. The Estuarium\u2019s mission is to foster learning opportunities that inspire people of all ages to connect with, protect, and enjoy the unique estuary environment of the South Sound and the greater Salish Sea ecosystem.

The Communications and Development Coordinator is responsible for promoting the Estuarium\u2019s mission, education programs and fundraisers both online and in person at events. The major responsibilities of this position include coordinating outreach events, creating physical and online promotional materials, coordinating our permanent and rotating exhibits, leading our Exhibits and Outreach Team of volunteers and staff, and assisting the Executive Director with grant writing and fundraising initiatives.

\u25cf<\/span> Interpersonal skills essential for working collaboratively with staff, board, donors, <\/span>partners, and the regional community<\/span><\/p>\n

Education and professional experience desired to include:<\/span><\/strong>
\u25cf<\/span> Minimum of four-year degree in education, communications, natural resource <\/span>management, marine biology, business or public administration, or related field<\/span>
\u25cf<\/span> Previous work at another non-profit highly desired<\/span>
\u25cf<\/span> Previous experience with empowering individuals and communities to take action <\/span>towards ecological resilience<\/span><\/p>\n

Software and website desired skills:<\/span><\/strong>
\u25cf<\/span> Experience with the following: Google Suite, Adobe Cloud, Adobe Illustrator, <\/span>Facebook, Instagram, WordPress, Constant Contact, Square
<\/span>Applicant will use their own personal computer for outreach and the Estuarium\u2019s desktop <\/span><\/em>computer for video editing and graphic design, and should easily learn new computer <\/span><\/em>programs\/apps.<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n

Additional desired skills:<\/span><\/strong>
\u25cf<\/span> Dual language, especially in Spanish<\/span>
\u25cf<\/span> Experience with grant writing or fundraising<\/span>
\u25cf<\/span> Leadership or volunteer management experience<\/span>

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES<\/span><\/strong><\/span>
Graphic Design<\/span><\/strong>
\u25cf<\/span> Create and send out our annual newsletter and monthly events emails<\/span>
\u25cf<\/span> Create digital and physical marketing materials for programs, exhibits, and events<\/span>
\u25cf<\/span> Develop and design Estuarium exhibits<\/span>
\u25cf<\/span> Ensure branding standards are being met across the organization<\/span><\/p>\n

Outreach<\/span><\/strong>
\u25cf<\/span> Create and distribute press releases for Estuarium programs, exhibits, and events<\/span>
\u25cf<\/span> Maintain the Estuarium\u2019s website and keep information current<\/span>
\u25cf<\/span> Coordinate and lead monthly Exhibits & Outreach Team meetings<\/span>
\u25cf<\/span> Advertise Estuarium events in person, online, and through flier distribution<\/span>
\u25cf<\/span> Regularly post on social media, community calendars, and our website<\/span>
\u25cf<\/span> Engage volunteers in exhibit and outreach projects<\/span>
\u25cf<\/span> Photograph public programs and K-12 education programs for marketing<\/span>
\u25cf<\/span> Coordinate outreach opportunities with community partners<\/span><\/p>\n

\u25cf<\/span> Participate in the planning of fundraising events: Jellyfish Jam, Benefit Cruises,<\/span>
and Annual Meeting<\/span>
\u25cf<\/span> Assisting Executive Director with grant-writing<\/span>
\u25cf<\/span> Grant, membership and donor database management in Little Green Light<\/span>
\u25cf<\/span> Acknowledgement of grantors, donors, members, and the programs they support<\/span><\/p>\n

Gift Shop<\/span><\/strong>
\u25cf<\/span> Work with local artists and other distributors to stock the Estuarium\u2019s Gift Shop<\/span>
\u25cf<\/span> Ensure products are selling and adjust stock as necessary<\/span>
\u25cf<\/span> Advertise gift shop wares during the holiday season<\/span><\/p>\n

Other<\/span><\/strong>
\u25cf<\/span> Attend monthly staff meetings<\/span>
\u25cf<\/span> Prepare short program summaries for monthly board meetings<\/span>
\u25cf<\/span> Prepare annual Gannt chart from staff work plans<\/span><\/p>\n
