It is a Full Time, Exempt position. The preferred office location is Longview, Washington, but location may be flexible within the region. There is generally a two-day per week office requirement for teaming and support with the remaining workdays allowed to be done remotely.\u00a0Accommodation may be made if home Wi-Fi is not capable of supporting job duties.<\/p>\n<p>The position is one of five GIS Analysts on the Washington Inventory &amp; Planning team and is responsible for supporting Weyerhaeuser\u2019s Longview-St. Helens Tree farm. The job will require some in-office interaction and support with tree farm operations staff as well as tasks being completed remotely. The successful candidate will be expected to manage GIS data and provide direct support for forestry management activities on approximately 385,000 acres. The candidate must possess strong organizational and communication skills and be able to work in both a team environment and individually. The candidate must also be able to adapt to changing priorities and learn new concepts and applications quickly, as well as travel to regional field offices when required.<\/p>\n<p>Analysts work with Weyerhaeuser\u2019s GIS forestry management system (FMS) as well as Esri\u2019s ArcGIS suite.\u00a0 Analysts must have a customer-oriented ability to assist in providing efficient and effective problem identification and resolution.<\/p>\n<p><u><strong>Key Functions:<\/strong><\/u><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Answer GIS user questions, do triage on problems and keep users productive. This often includes mini-training\/coaching sessions in person or online.\u00a0<\/li>\n<li>Support the maintenance and improvement of GIS spatial and tabular data accuracy.<\/li>\n<li>Support Weyerhaeuser forestry GIS users in meeting expectations for accomplishment of silvicultural treatment activities and recording forest stand treatment information in GIS database.<\/li>\n<li>Support Weyerhaeuser forestry GIS users on workflow and data management practice standardization.<\/li>\n<li>Build and maintain a comprehensive understanding of Weyerhaeuser\u2019s forestry GIS database structure, functionality, and design.<\/li>\n<li>Be a champion for simplifying and standardizing data management processes, supporting connectivity of all Weyerhaeuser Timberlands systems.<\/li>\n<li>Support ad hoc requests for GIS spatial, database analysis, and mapping.<\/li>\n<li>Collaborate with GIS end users and IT in support of functional improvement and data service.<\/li>\n<li>Collaborate in testing improvements of Weyerhaeuser\u2019s forestry GIS.<\/li>\n<li>Support GPS, mobile maps, and Web GIS.<\/li>\n<li>Assist with the company\u2019s transition to ArcPro.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>We believe trees are a remarkable resource that can and should be managed responsibly to make a range of products that meet human needs, while also providing recreation, wildlife habitat, and other important ecosystem benefits.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div id=\"requisitionDescriptionInterface.ID1585.row1\" class=\"contentlinepanel\" title=\"\">\n<div id=\"requisitionDescriptionInterface.ID1601.row1\" class=\"inlinepanel\" title=\"\"><span class=\"subtitle\">Qualifications<\/span><\/div>\n<p><u><strong>Requirements:<\/strong><\/u><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Bachelor\u2019s degree or higher in GIS, Geography, Forestry, Natural Resources, or related field is required.\u00a0<\/li>\n<li>Proficiency with ArcGIS is required.<\/li>\n<li>Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office software programs including Word and Excel.<\/li>\n<li>Ability to travel to regional field offices.\u00a0 May involve limited overnight travel.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Preferred Qualifications:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Experience working with SQL and\/or Microsoft Access<\/li>\n<li>Degree or Certificate in GIS<\/li>\n<li>A minimum of 2+ years of GIS experience<\/li>\n<li>Understanding of forest operations, including harvesting and silvicultural methods used in the Pacific Northwest<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>We sustainably manage forests and manufacture products that make the world a better place.
