The positions<br \/>will work with staff in the Pennsylvania, Ohio or California offices.<\/p>\n<p><br \/>FracTracker interns have the opportunity to harness the power of maps and data to<br \/>advance grassroots environmental justice campaigns throughout the United States. For<br \/>examples of our where our interns have studied and the projects they have worked on<br \/>visit https:\/\/www.fractracker.org\/about-us\/internships\/<\/p>\n<p>FracTracker internships are geared towards current undergraduate and graduate<br \/>students. Recent college and graduate school graduates are also welcome to apply.<br \/>Applicants should enjoy and have an aptitude for working with datasets and visualizing<br \/>data. Strong applicants will have an interest in or prior experience in map-making and<br \/>analyzing and writing about oil, gas, and petrochemical issues.<\/p>\n<p><br \/>The responsibilities of paid interns revolve around the daily work of the other<br \/>FracTracker staff, time-sensitive projects, and the interns\u2019 own areas of interests.<br \/>Responsibilities will vary, but may include:<br \/>\u25cf Data mining, cleaning, management, and GIS mapping<br \/>\u25cf Limited spatial analyses using GIS software<br \/>\u25cf Translation of data into blog posts<br \/>\u25cf Communications support, including website development, content creation,<br \/>reviewing and processing audio transcripts from interviews and other tasks as<br \/>needed<br \/>Preferred Skills:<br \/>\u25cf GIS\/mapping; Experience with ArcGIS<br \/>\u25cf Excellent verbal and written communications skills<br \/>\u25cf Experience with Google Suite, Excel, and data filing systems (such as Box)<br \/>\u25cf Citizen science<br \/>\u25cf Research<br \/>\u25cf Data management<br \/>\u25cf Website development; Knowledge of WordPress<br \/>\u25cf Teamwork and interpersonal skills<br \/>\u25cf Ability to work independently<br \/>\u25cf Ability to meet deadlines<br \/>\u25cf Experience with Google Suite, Microsoft Excel, and data filing systems (such as<br \/>Box)<br \/>Applicant should:<br \/>\u25cf Be enrolled in (or a recent graduate of) an accredited college or university is<br \/>required. Majors can include geography, environmental science, environmental<br \/>studies, public health, or a related field<br \/>\u25cf Have a deep interest in the mission of FracTracker and issues around the<br \/>impacts of oil, gas, and petrochemical development<br \/>\u25cf Have an understanding of environmental justice and the need to stand in<br \/>solidarity with frontline communities<br \/>\u25cf Have a knowledge of and interest in environmental public health concerns or<br \/>other issues of relevance in understanding the impacts of oil and gas extraction<br \/>and climate change<\/p>\n<p><br \/>Application Process<br \/>To apply for our spring 2023 Data &amp; GIS internship positions, please submit the<br \/>following materials through the online application form: cover letter, resume, and names<br \/>and contact information for three references.
