2023 Forestry Opportunity Internship & Scholarship (Washington)<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n PROGRAM DETAILS<\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n The purpose of the Green Diamond Opportunity Internship Program is to expand and enrich Green Diamond by supporting outstanding students from various cultural, ethnic, and socio\u00adeconomic backgrounds, with diverse talents, interests, and life experiences whose educational pursuits align with our business.\u00a0\u00a0The Opportunity Program is intended for students who are currently pursuing academic degrees in an accredited college of forestry or natural resources and to help them achieve their academic goals.<\/span><\/p>\n Diverse thinkers of all backgrounds will be considered.\u00a0\u00a0Examples of those diverse backgrounds include, but are not limited to the following: Ethnicity, first language, family composition, gender, first-generation college attendee, or geographic background.\u00a0\u00a0We will not illegally discriminate.\u00a0<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n Internship<\/span><\/u><\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n Preferred fields of study include forestry, fisheries, wildlife biology or relevant Natural Resource based disciplines.\u00a0\u00a0Successful candidates will be selected for a paid internship lasting up to 12-weeks.<\/span><\/p>\n Scholarship<\/span><\/u><\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n Interns will be required to submit a secondary application near the end of the internship to be considered for the scholarship.\u00a0\u00a0If awarded, the scholarship will be up to $3,000.<\/span><\/p>\n Location & Housing<\/span><\/u><\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n This internship is located in Shelton, WA.\u00a0 Housing or a stipend towards housing may be available for interns out of the area.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n Timing<\/span><\/u><\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n This posting is open until December 30, 2022.\u00a0 Applicants will be contacted mid-January regarding their status in the process.<\/span><\/p>\n \u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n Internship Description<\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n \u00a0<\/span><\/u><\/span><\/p>\n Who you are:<\/span><\/u><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n You have completed your first year of college and are ready to start exploring possible career options. Most of all you enjoy being outdoors and are excited about working in an industry that offers you that opportunity.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n What the job is:<\/span><\/u><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n During this internship you will learn how a working forest is managed; below are a few examples of the kind of work you\u2019ll gain exposure to:<\/span><\/p>\n If any of this is new to you, that\u2019s ok, we\u2019ll teach you everything you need to know to safely do your work.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n Who you will work with:<\/span><\/u><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n Day-to-day you\u2019ll work with our team of foresters, who will train you on everything you need to know throughout your internship.\u00a0 You\u2019ll also have the opportunity to interact with other departments across the division including operations, biology, engineering, GIS, and inventory.<\/span><\/p>\n Where you\u2019ll work:<\/span><\/u><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n The Washington internship is located in Mason County along southernmost tip of Puget Sound near the foothills of the Olympic National Forest.
