Greater Farallones Association (GFA) is excited to continue the Marine Science Education<\/span>
Fellowship program with two open positions that support candidates regardless of ability or<\/span>
background interested in pursuing a career in educating others about the ocean, but have<\/span>
little or no experience.<\/span>
Selected candidates will be given the opportunity to build teaching skills and comfort working<\/span>
with students, learn marine science curriculum, and have access to marine sanctuary<\/span>
resources. GFA is committed to providing opportunities to the next generation of marine<\/span>
scientists and educators from all backgrounds, and is dedicated to raising awareness and<\/span>
stewardship of the vital ocean resources right off the San Francisco coast.<\/span>
Marine Science Education Fellow positions available with the following programs:<\/span>
LiMPETS Program<\/span> (Long Term Monitoring Program and Experiential Training for Students)<\/span>
Oceans After School Program<\/span>
The Marine Science Education Fellow will provide instructional and administrative program<\/span>
support for either the LiMPETS or Oceans After School program as well as staff the Greater<\/span>
Farallones Visitor Center desk once a week. Each fellow will be part-time staff with the<\/span>
Greater Farallones Association and will require a commitment of 20 hours per week,<\/span>
Monday-Friday, with occasional weekend work. Both positions are for October 2022 through<\/span>
March 2023, with potential extension through June.<\/span>
Marine Science Education Fellow Responsibilities<\/span>
This is a range of possibilities tailored to your skills and program needs. Responsibilities<\/span>
could include the following and will be worked out collaboratively at the beginning of the<\/span>
fellowship:<\/span>
\u25cf<\/span> Assist with the delivery of coastal science education programs, both in the classroom<\/span>
(in-person or distance learning) and in the field.<\/span>
\u25cf<\/span> Maintain a safe and inclusive environment for all students during lessons and in the<\/span>
workplace where all staff feel they can bring their authentic selves.<\/span>
\u25cf<\/span> Assist Program Coordinator in administration of programs, including outreach to<\/span>
teachers and registration of students.<\/span>
\u25cf<\/span> Manage program equipment and supplies.<\/span>
\u25cf<\/span> Staff the Greater Farallones Visitor Center on a weekend day, greeting and engaging<\/span>
guests in the exhibits.<\/span>
\u25cf<\/span> Assist in the implementation of a teacher professional development workshop.<\/span>
\u25cf<\/span> Assist in curriculum development and online educational resources, as needed.<\/span>
\u25cf<\/span> May experience other program specific tasks.<\/span><\/p>\n
