{"id":46845,"date":"2022-08-11T12:53:51","date_gmt":"2022-08-11T19:53:51","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/sites.evergreen.edu\/mesweekly\/?p=46845"},"modified":"2022-08-11T12:53:51","modified_gmt":"2022-08-11T19:53:51","slug":"job-assistant-regional-habitat-program-manager-dept-of-fish-and-wildlife-other-wa","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/sites.evergreen.edu\/mesweekly\/job-assistant-regional-habitat-program-manager-dept-of-fish-and-wildlife-other-wa\/","title":{"rendered":"Job: Assistant Regional Habitat Program Manager, Dept. of Fish and Wildlife (Other, WA)"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><!--more--><b><strong>For more information, please follow this link:<\/strong><\/b> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.governmentjobs.com\/careers\/washington\/jobs\/3674216\/environmental-planner-4-assistant-regional-habitat-program-manager-arhpm-pe\">https:\/\/www.governmentjobs.com\/careers\/washington\/jobs\/3674216\/environmental-planner-4-assistant-regional-habitat-program-manager-arhpm-pe<\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong>Salary<\/strong>&#8211; $68,076.00 &#8211; $89,292.00 Annually<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>Our ARHPM,<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Works within the Mid-Management Team (MMT) or other identified entity to develop and maintain a consistent state-wide approach to new policies, new direction on existing policies, and significant initiatives.<\/li>\n<li>Serves as Liaison and Policy Lead within the District(s) for projects\/issues\/processes that are impacted by new or redirected policies or significant initiatives.<\/li>\n<li>As District Policy lead, conducts strategic analyses concerning agency or externally developed policies, redirected policies, or significant initiatives.<\/li>\n<li>Works with the RHPM, District Team, and supervised staff to implement strategic direction by identifying specific actions and using a continuous strategic approach.<\/li>\n<li>As District Liaison, assists the RHPM to actively engage local, state, or federal agencies and other external entities important to the success of the identified strategic direction.<\/li>\n<li>As District Liaison, assists the RHPM in engaging Tribal governments.<\/li>\n<li>Provides guidance, direction, and information to staff regarding Program\/Agency policies, procedures, and directions in a clear and timely manner.<\/li>\n<li>Works with staff to develop strategic approach to accomplish goals, addressing issues, and successfully implementing assignments.<\/li>\n<li>Hydraulic Project Approval Permitting: Directs, guides, and provides information to staff for successful implementation of the Hydraulic Code.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><strong>WORKING CONDITIONS:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Work Setting, including hazards:<\/strong>\n<ol>\n<li>Work is performed in an office and outdoor environment.<\/li>\n<li>Office work includes reading, writing, phone, and computer use. Must have the ability to operate a vehicle and hold a valid driver\u2019s license.<\/li>\n<li>Fieldwork also requires knowledge of the operation of a GPS, clinometer, and digital camera.<\/li>\n<li>Knowledge of electroshocking equipment and procedures may be required.<\/li>\n<li>Physical, environmental, or mental demands of key work: Must be able to drive a vehicle to conduct field review of project sites. \u00a0 Physical capacity to work in remote forested and aquatic environments, conducting fish surveys and other related tasks. \u00a0These activities can consist of 8- to 10-hour days, for several days in a row. \u00a0Capable of walking over rough terrain for short distances (up to 1 mile) regularly or occasionally over long distances (several miles).<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/li>\n<li><strong>Schedule:<\/strong>\n<ol>\n<li>Monday thru Friday 8 AM \u2013 5 PM.<\/li>\n<li>These hours are flexible to accommodate seasonal workload or additional duties as assigned by the regional program manager.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/li>\n<li><strong>Travel Requirements:<\/strong>\n<ol>\n<li>In the field 25% doing ride-along\u2019s, field work, or traveling to meetings throughout the state.<\/li>\n<li>Periods of overnight travel may be required, and work hours may exceed the standard 8 AM to 5 PM workday.<\/li>\n<li>Willingness and ability to work extended hours as necessary to complete assignments.<\/li>\n<li>May include extended travel and evening or overnight trips.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/li>\n<li><strong>Tools and Equipment:<\/strong>\n<ol>\n<li>Electroshocking equipment, boots, GPS, clinometer, digital camera, state-assigned work vehicle.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/li>\n<li><strong>Customer Interactions:<\/strong>\n<ol>\n<li>Agency staff, other government agencies, tribal, private stakeholders, and the general public.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Qualifications<\/p>\n<p><strong>REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:<\/strong><br \/>Closely related qualifying experience may be substituted for the required education on a year-by-year basis.<br \/>\u00a0<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Bachelor&#8217;s degree in fisheries, wildlife management, natural resource science, or environmental science.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>And<\/strong><br \/><strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Five (5) years of professional experience in fish management or fish research, wildlife management or wildlife research, or habitat management or habitat research.<br \/>\u00a0<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Please note:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>A Master\u2019s degree in the applicable science may substitute for one (1) year of the required experience.<\/li>\n<li>A Ph.D. in the applicable science will substitute for two (2) years of the required experience.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>License:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Valid driver\u2019s license.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>\u00a0<\/strong><br \/><strong>PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Demonstrated ability to build rapport and partner with the public, tribes, and local, state, and federal agencies.<\/li>\n<li>Knowledge of ecological processes pertinent to the Northwest.<\/li>\n<li>Familiarity with ArcGIS and general familiarity with Priority Habitats and Species (PHS) mapping.<\/li>\n<li>General understanding of various regulatory processes, including the Hydraulic Code, Growth Management Act (GMA), State Environmental Policy Act (SEPA), and Shoreline Management Act (SMA).<\/li>\n<li>Demonstrated organization and time management skills to effectively prioritize workload and maximize efficiency.<\/li>\n<li>Demonstrated ability to work within the regulatory environment including reviewing, issuing, monitoring, or complying with federal, state or local environmental permits.<\/li>\n<li>An interest in fish and wildlife resource management and working with others in a collaborative and regulatory environment to influence sound resource
