{"id":46819,"date":"2022-08-11T11:52:20","date_gmt":"2022-08-11T18:52:20","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/sites.evergreen.edu\/mesweekly\/?p=46819"},"modified":"2022-08-11T11:52:20","modified_gmt":"2022-08-11T18:52:20","slug":"job-natural-resource-technician-dept-of-fish-and-wildlife-other-wa-2","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/sites.evergreen.edu\/mesweekly\/job-natural-resource-technician-dept-of-fish-and-wildlife-other-wa-2\/","title":{"rendered":"Job: Natural Resource Technician, Dept. of Fish and Wildlife (Other, WA)"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><!--more--><b><strong>For more information, please follow this link:<\/strong><\/b> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.governmentjobs.com\/careers\/washington\/jobs\/3674189\/natural-resource-technician-2-wildlife-area-technician-non-permanent-11581#new_tab\">https:\/\/www.governmentjobs.com\/careers\/washington\/jobs\/3674189\/natural-resource-technician-2-wildlife-area-technician-non-permanent-11581#new_tab<\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong>Salary<\/strong>&#8211; $2,827.00 &#8211; $3,650.00 Monthly<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>Our Wildlife Area Technician will,<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Use truck, tractor, UTV, ATV, and backpack sprayers to apply herbicide to control weeds and use mechanical means to remove weeds.<\/li>\n<li>Calculate applications rates, mix herbicides and adjuvants to rate and equipment specifications.<\/li>\n<li>Clean equipment after use.<\/li>\n<li>Maintain required records for each use.<\/li>\n<li>Operate power and handheld equipment to accomplish mechanical removal.<\/li>\n<li>Use GPS equipment to record new weed locations and navigate to past sites.<\/li>\n<li>Work safely and use good judgement in remote locations.<\/li>\n<li>Soil preparation, mowing, planting shrubs\/trees, seeding, maintain irrigation systems, using tractor, ATV, UTV, and implements.<\/li>\n<li>Irrigate food plots, shrub rows using handlines, permanent irrigation lines, and center pivot system.<\/li>\n<li>Safely operate trucks and equipment in off-road situations.<\/li>\n<li>Assist with sign maintenance and wildlife area facilities and grounds maintenance.<\/li>\n<li>Assist with minor repair and maintenance of all equipment and vehicles.<\/li>\n<li>Safely use a variety of hand tools including hammer, shovel, wire cutters, tamping bars, hand saws, and chainsaws.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><strong>WORKING CONDITIONS:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Work Setting, including hazards:<\/strong>\n<ol>\n<li>Field 90% office 5%.<\/li>\n<li>Hazards include exposure to inclement weather, including extreme heat or snow, rough terrain, and surfaces, hiking while carrying\/lifting up to 50 pounds (equipment, bags of seed), exposure to various chemicals and chemical solvents, tripping\/falling, high noise level, operating various vehicles, machines equipment and power tools.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/li>\n<li><strong>Schedule:<\/strong>\n<ol>\n<li>Overtime Eligible; Monday \u2013 Thursday 7:00am \u2013 5:30pm; at times work may be off-schedule due to seasonal demands, emergencies, and time critical assignments.<\/li>\n<li>Available for non-scheduled work week and travel. Willingness and ability to work long irregular hours.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/li>\n<li><strong>Travel Requirements:<\/strong>\n<ol>\n<li>Daily travel to field sites.<\/li>\n<li>Wildlife area units are in Douglas and Okanogan counties, and travel may require daily round trips of up to 170 miles.<\/li>\n<li>5% to 10% may be occasional travel required for training or meetings.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/li>\n<li><strong>Tools and Equipment:<\/strong>\n<ol>\n<li>Trucks, pickups, ATVs, UTVs, boats, trailers, tractors with a variety of implements, heavy equipment, sprayers, power, hand tools, GPS units.<\/li>\n<li>Occasional use of personal computer hardware and software (MS\/Office\/Outlook).<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/li>\n<li><strong>Customer Interactions:<\/strong>\n<ol>\n<li>Occasional interactions may occur during the workday.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Qualifications<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><strong>REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:<\/strong><br \/>\u00a0<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Three (3) years of experience in one or more of the following:\n<ol>\n<li>Fish and wildlife habitat management.<\/li>\n<li>Habitat development and protection.<\/li>\n<li>Irrigation systems.<\/li>\n<li>Facilities and grounds maintenance.<\/li>\n<li>Tractor and equipment operation and maintenance.<\/li>\n<li>Pesticide applications.<\/li>\n<li>General farming<strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Or<\/strong><br \/><br \/><\/p>\n<div>\n<ul>\n<li>College level work in agriculture, life science or a closely related natural resource field.<br \/>\u00a0<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n<p><strong>License:<\/strong><\/p>\n<div>\n<ul>\n<li>Valid driver\u2019s license.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><strong>Certifications\/Trainings:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Washington State Pesticide Applicators License (to be obtained within 6 months of hire).<\/li>\n<li>First Aid (training will be provided \u2013 to be obtained within 6 months of hire).<\/li>\n<li>ATV certification (training will be provided \u2013 to be obtained within 6 months of hire).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Competencies:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Knowledge and experience with farming practices.<\/li>\n<li>Proficient at using GPS equipment to determine project area.<\/li>\n<li>Ability to work independently or as part of a team on assigned tasks.<\/li>\n<li>Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office software programs including Word and Excel.<\/li>\n<li>Knowledge of wildlife habitat relationships.<\/li>\n<li>Knowledge and experience in weed control.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Working knowledge of weed management techniques.<\/li>\n<li>Working knowledge of heavy equipment and farm implements.<\/li>\n<li>Working knowledge of welding, metal work, and basic carpentry.<\/li>\n<li>Knowledge of vehicle maintenance and repairs.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>CONDITION OF EMPLOYMENT:\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>As a result of Gov.
