{"id":46707,"date":"2022-07-28T10:32:00","date_gmt":"2022-07-28T17:32:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/sites.evergreen.edu\/mesweekly\/?p=46707"},"modified":"2022-07-28T10:32:00","modified_gmt":"2022-07-28T17:32:00","slug":"job-senior-dnmp-section-specialist-dept-of-agriculture-yakima-wa","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/sites.evergreen.edu\/mesweekly\/job-senior-dnmp-section-specialist-dept-of-agriculture-yakima-wa\/","title":{"rendered":"Job: Senior DNMP Section Specialist, Dept. of Agriculture (Yakima, WA)"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><!--more--><b><strong>For more information, please follow this link:<\/strong><\/b> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.governmentjobs.com\/careers\/washington\/jobs\/3644209\/senior-dnmp-section-specialist-eastern-wa\">https:\/\/www.governmentjobs.com\/careers\/washington\/jobs\/3644209\/senior-dnmp-section-specialist-eastern-wa<\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong>Salary<\/strong>&#8211; $55,872.00 &#8211; $73,260.00 Annually<\/p>\n<p>Duties<\/p>\n<p><strong><br \/>Include, but not limited to:<\/strong><br \/><br \/><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Provides senior-level support to program staff on manure and nutrient management, large animal composting, and water quality for livestock operations in the Eastern WA region.\u00a0<\/li>\n<li>Represents and advises the Program on permit considerations for arid, irrigated agriculture in WA.\u00a0<\/li>\n<li>Maintains expertise on current CAFO permit conditions, science and implementation strategies.<\/li>\n<li>Identifies barriers, regulatory gaps, and contributes to the development of new permits.<\/li>\n<li>Provides scientific and technical consultation to Program staff, and other agency staff on environmental impacts of permit conditions.\u00a0<\/li>\n<li>Reviews, analyzes, develops, and recommends policies, guidelines, and regulations on composting practices, and mass composting practices for livestock mortalities statewide.<\/li>\n<li>Prioritizes, manages, tracks, and completes inspections for assigned dairies to<br \/>ensure compliance with state laws.<\/li>\n<li>Completes dairy and CAFO inspections and create reports that provide expert guidance for regulated industry.<\/li>\n<li>Responds to high priority and complex threats to the environment and human health, including manure spills, runoff events, and infrastructure failures.<\/li>\n<li>Identifies, recommends, or requires appropriate mitigating actions to address water quality issues to protect human health and the environment.<\/li>\n<li>Ensures evidence and water samples are collecting in compliance with standard operating procedures, DNMP police and are defensible in court.\u00a0<\/li>\n<li>Prepares and advises on appropriate enforcement to ensure compliance with state laws.\u00a0<\/li>\n<li>Represents the Program by speaking at public meetings, providing Program information, and input and support for strategies that reduce impacts from dairies and permitted CAFOs to local watersheds.\u00a0<\/li>\n<li>Coordinates with Conservation District and Natural Resource Conservation Service on technical issues, farm plan updates, and BMP implementation.<\/li>\n<li>Attends and presents information at watershed meetings such as watershed improvement districts, groundwater management areas, and water resource management area meetings.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Qualifications<\/p>\n<p><strong>Who should apply?<\/strong><br \/>Professionals with:<br \/><br \/>A Bachelor&#8217;s degree involving major study in environmental, physical, or one of the natural sciences, environmental planning or other allied field <strong>AND\u00a0<\/strong>five (5) years of professional-level experience in environmental analysis or control, or environmental planning which includes one year equal to an ES 3 or above or two years equal to an ES 2 or above.
