$2,827.00 &#8211; $3,650.00 Monthly<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>Our Wildlife Area Technician,<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Assists in the coordination and implementation of wildlife habitat management and public access projects on the Olympic-Willapa Hills Wildlife Area. \u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Projects often include activities such as mowing, disking, seeding, limbing trees, installing gates, spreading gravel, and herbicide application.<\/li>\n<li>This duty requires the use of heavy equipment such as tractors, mowers, disks, seeders, herbicide sprayers, the use of hand tools and power tools such as brush cutters and chainsaws.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Maintains tools, equipment, vehicles, facilities, and infrastructure to ensure safe and effective operation and conditions for both staff and the public. \u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Maintains a variety of vehicles and equipment common to land management such as trucks, tractors, trailers, mowers, spray systems, ATVs, and chainsaws<\/li>\n<li>Installs, operates, and maintains infrastructure including water control structures, tide gates, roads, fences, and parking areas.<\/li>\n<li>Manages facilities including chemical and equipment storage areas, managing bulk fuel supplies, troubleshooting heating and plumbing issues, and keeping all elements of the shop in working order.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Performs administrative tasks. \u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<div>\n<ul>\n<li>Performs Wildlife Program and Wildlife Area administrative tasks including responding to the public, weekly reporting, purchasing materials, training, and meeting with other agencies and non-governmental organizations.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n<p><strong>Assists regional staff in implementation of habitat management and public access projects on other Wildlife Areas. \u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<div>\n<ul>\n<li>Mowing, weed eating, brushing, burning, herbicide application, parking area maintenance, and other tasks as assigned.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n<p><strong>WORKING CONDITIONS:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Work Setting, including hazards:<\/strong>\n<ol>\n<li>Position functions primarily in the field, but also in shop and office settings.<\/li>\n<li>Hazards include exposure to inclement weather and difficult terrain, working with power equipment, tripping\/falling, and other things consistent with working with tractors, implements, and other equipment in an outdoor setting.<\/li>\n<li>Must be able to walk, lift, bend, stoop, sometimes on uneven terrain, while at times carrying and lifting up to 40 pounds of equipment and supplies.\u00a0<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/li>\n<li><strong>Schedule:<\/strong>\n<ol>\n<li>Standard hours are Monday \u2013 Thursday from 6 a.m. to 4 p.m.<\/li>\n<li>These positions may have a flexible schedule and may work outside the standard business hours.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/li>\n<li><strong>Travel Requirements:<\/strong>\n<ol>\n<li>Overnight travel is seldom required.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/li>\n<li><strong>Tools and Equipment:<\/strong>\n<ol>\n<li>Regular duties require the use of trucks, trailers, tractors, various implements, sprayers, power, and hand tools.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/li>\n<li><strong>Customer Interactions:<\/strong>\n<ol>\n<li>Periodic interaction with the public in both field and office settings.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Qualifications<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><strong>REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:<\/strong><\/p>\n<div>\n<ul>\n<li>Three years of experience as a Natural Resource Worker 1 or equivalent<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n<p><strong>OR<\/strong><\/p>\n<div>\n<ul>\n<li>An Associate\u2019s degree in a natural resources field <strong>AND<\/strong> 1 year of experience at the Natural Resource Worker 1 level or equivalent.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n<p><strong>Licenses:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Valid driver\u2019s license.<\/li>\n<li>Must be able to obtain a Pesticide Applicator\u2019s License within 1 year of employment.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>License:<\/strong><\/p>\n<div>\n<ul>\n<li>Commercial Driver\u2019s License<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n<p><strong>Knowledge and Experience:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Wildlife habitat enhancement and management methods.<\/li>\n<li>Moist soil management principles.<\/li>\n<li>Heavy equipment operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting.<\/li>\n<li>Small engine tools such as pumps, chainsaws, and brush cutters.<\/li>\n<li>Trade skills such as carpentry, mechanics, plumbing, and electrical.<\/li>\n<li>Computer software (Microsoft Office).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Ability to:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Manage projects and workloads.<\/li>\n<li>Identify wildlife and plant species.<\/li>\n<li>Communicate effectively
