The work will be with a faculty mentor on projects for the Urban Sustainability and Environmental Health Research Cluster, and all work will adhere to university-established health guidelines for safety. Hours worked will be decided in consultation between the faculty member and each student and will be flexible.\u00a0<br \/><br \/>What to Expect. Candidates can expect to expand their research skill set and network. Outcome skills include:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Knowledge of how to conduct research\u00a0<\/li>\n<li>Strong understanding of teamwork<\/li>\n<li>Development of independent project management skills<\/li>\n<li>Knowledge of campus and community resources and partners<\/li>\n<li>The student researcher will benefit from learning from an interdisciplinary team<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Required Qualifications*<\/strong><br \/><br \/>Candidate <em>must\u00a0<\/em>be a UM-Flint graduate student.<br \/><br \/>Additionally, ideal candidates must\u00a0possess the following general skills:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Past research experience desired, but not required<\/li>\n<li>Excellent oral and written communication (analytical writing, creative writing, or presenting)<\/li>\n<li>Strong ability to think critically<\/li>\n<li>Strong interpersonal skills<\/li>\n<li>Outgoing personality, including ability to communicate and work with diverse constituents<\/li>\n<li>Professional demeanor<\/li>\n<li>Ability to meet deadlines and work independently<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Background Screening<\/strong><br \/><br \/>The University of Michigan conducts background checks on all job candidates upon acceptance of a contingent offer and may use a third party administrator to conduct background checks.
