Salary<\/strong>– $<\/span>31<\/span>,000<\/span>–<\/span>3<\/span>5<\/span>,000 depending on experience and qualifications<\/span> +<\/span> b<\/span>enefits.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Overview<\/strong>: This position represents a partnership between South Dakota Game, Fish & Parks (SDGFP) and
\nPheasants Forever (PF). The incumbent will conduct habitat management work on public wildlife management
\nareas. They are full-time, permanent employee of Pheasants Forever and will receive daily leadership from
\nSDGFP Field Managers. The position will be located at Watertown, South Dakota.
\nDuties<\/strong>: The incumbent will assist with all aspects of managing the assigned wildlife management area. Major<\/strong>
\nresponsibilities include<\/strong>:
\n\u2022 Directing, and implementing habitat management work on public wildlife areas; operation of farm
\nequipment and prescribed fire experience important
\n\u2022 Procuring supplies and equipment;
\n\u2022 Participating in the construction, maintenance and repair of area buildings, equipment, and roads;
\n\u2022 Coordinating agricultural permits to insure positive benefits for wildlife;
\n\u2022 Providing public information;
\n\u2022 Participating in scientific field studies and surveys;
\n\u2022 Participating in training and evaluation of seasonal employees.
\n\u2022 Performs other related duties as assigned.
\nRequired Knowledge Skills and Abilities:
\n\u2022 A basic understanding of environmental, agricultural and\/or natural resource science. Education may be
\nsubstituted for experience as determined relevant by the partners. Preference will be given to candidates
\nthat possess a bachelor\u2019s degree with an emphasis in wildlife management; Rx fire experience preferred.
\n\u2022 Ability to communicate clearly and effectively with colleagues and partner agencies;
\n\u2022 Ability to work independently with little supervision;
\n\u2022 Knowledge of wildlife ecology, wetland and grassland management including the ability to utilize
\nvarious habitat management equipment and tools in the development of wildlife habitat;
\n\u2022 Excellent verbal\/written communication and organizational skills;
\n\u2022 Successful applicants must also possess or be able to acquire a South Dakota CDL Operators License
\nand an Herbicide Applicators License.
\nTraining and Experience Guideline: Any combination of training and\/or experience that will enable the
\napplicant to possess the required knowledge, skills, and abilities. One year of work experience in a wildlife
\nmanagement related job. A general qualification guideline for this position is a Bachelor of Science Degree in
