The incumbent will conduct habitat management work on public wildlife management<br \/>\nareas. They are full-time, permanent employee of Pheasants Forever and will receive daily leadership from<br \/>\nSDGFP Field Managers. The position will be located at Watertown, South Dakota.<br \/>\n<strong>Duties<\/strong>: The incumbent will assist with all aspects of managing the assigned wildlife management area. <strong>Major<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong>responsibilities include<\/strong>:<br \/>\n\u2022 Directing, and implementing habitat management work on public wildlife areas; operation of farm<br \/>\nequipment and prescribed fire experience important<br \/>\n\u2022 Procuring supplies and equipment;<br \/>\n\u2022 Participating in the construction, maintenance and repair of area buildings, equipment, and roads;<br \/>\n\u2022 Coordinating agricultural permits to insure positive benefits for wildlife;<br \/>\n\u2022 Providing public information;<br \/>\n\u2022 Participating in scientific field studies and surveys;<br \/>\n\u2022 Participating in training and evaluation of seasonal employees.<br \/>\n\u2022 Performs other related duties as assigned.<br \/>\nRequired Knowledge Skills and Abilities:<br \/>\n\u2022 A basic understanding of environmental, agricultural and\/or natural resource science. Education may be<br \/>\nsubstituted for experience as determined relevant by the partners. Preference will be given to candidates<br \/>\nthat possess a bachelor\u2019s degree with an emphasis in wildlife management; Rx fire experience preferred.<br \/>\n\u2022 Ability to communicate clearly and effectively with colleagues and partner agencies;<br \/>\n\u2022 Ability to work independently with little supervision;<br \/>\n\u2022 Knowledge of wildlife ecology, wetland and grassland management including the ability to utilize<br \/>\nvarious habitat management equipment and tools in the development of wildlife habitat;<br \/>\n\u2022 Excellent verbal\/written communication and organizational skills;<br \/>\n\u2022 Successful applicants must also possess or be able to acquire a South Dakota CDL Operators License<br \/>\nand an Herbicide Applicators License.<br \/>\nTraining and Experience Guideline: Any combination of training and\/or experience that will enable the<br \/>\napplicant to possess the required knowledge, skills, and abilities. One year of work experience in a wildlife<br \/>\nmanagement related job.
