{"id":46162,"date":"2022-05-26T11:25:39","date_gmt":"2022-05-26T18:25:39","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/sites.evergreen.edu\/mesweekly\/?p=46162"},"modified":"2022-05-26T11:25:39","modified_gmt":"2022-05-26T18:25:39","slug":"phd-postdoc-places-lab-boston-ma","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/sites.evergreen.edu\/mesweekly\/phd-postdoc-places-lab-boston-ma\/","title":{"rendered":"PhD: Postdoc, PLACES lab (Boston, MA)"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><!--more--><strong>For more information, please follow this link:<\/strong> http:\/\/placeslab.org\/postdoc<\/p>\n<p><strong>Salary<\/strong>&#8211; DOE<\/p>\n<p>The PLACES lab at Boston University (BU) is offering an NSF-funded position for a postdoctoral<br \/>researcher or research scientist with a strong skillset in spatiotemporal statistics, machine<br \/>learning, or causal inference, and an interest in land conservation policy in the United States.<br \/>The successful candidate will contribute to the development of U.S.-wide, parcel-level<br \/>estimates of land value and the cost of long-term conservation (land purchase, easements)*.<br \/>Products will support policy analyses and decision-making processes of academic, federal, and<br \/>non-profit stakeholders interested in identifying effective and equitable land use choices under<br \/>the federal administration&#8217;s current initiative to protect 30% of the U.S. by 2030. The research<br \/>will be funded under NSF&#8217;s Human-Environment &amp; Geographical Sciences program.<br \/>The researcher will have the last opportunity to work with a unique and fascinating dataset that<br \/>is scheduled to expire on Sept 30, 2023: geospatial data of 150 million U.S. properties and sales<br \/>with a wide range of social and environmental characteristics (placeslab.org\/dictionary).<br \/>Research priorities will be defined jointly.
