The salary<br \/>for the half-time position will be +\/- $24,000, depending on experience. Paid vacation and a<br \/>health benefit stipend are included. The work will be done remotely, with flexible hours. This is<br \/>a new position, incorporating work that in the past has been done on contract.<br \/>Under the direction of the Executive Director, this position will coordinate our communications<br \/>across the website, social media, newsletters (email and print), webinars, and conventional<br \/>media. The Communications Manager will assist with content development and social media<br \/>strategies using a variety of tools, platforms, and engagement and outreach methods. This role<br \/>will be functional, such as posting to media and editing newsletters, but also creative, assisting<br \/>Oregon Shores in articulating our mission and telling our stories.<br \/>Key Responsibilities<br \/>\u2022 Compose written and oral communications such as press releases, newsletter articles,<br \/>website content and social media posts to convey Oregon Shores\u2019 mission and activities.<br \/>\u2022 Support Oregon Shores and CoastWatch in actively communicating campaigns, programs<br \/>and events.<br \/>\u2022 Work with other staff to develop coherent messages that unite our communications; assist<br \/>in developing themes and stories that lead to informative, original and authentic posts and<br \/>articles.<br \/>Specific tasks<br \/>\u2022 Social media posts\u2014writing, creating graphics, posting to Instagram and Facebook<br \/>\u2022 Email newsletters and bulletins\u2014assembling, publishing and to some extent writing<br \/>\u2022 Maintain Mailchimp distribution lists and newsletter templates<br \/>\u2022 Event listings\u2014writing and posting event listings on our website<br \/>\u2022 Press releases\u2014circulating and in some cases writing<br \/>\u2022 Maintain the media contact list for press releases<br \/>\u2022 Other media contacts as time allows<br \/>\u2022 Zoom sessions\u2014providing behind the scenes assistance on occasion<br \/>Strong skills in social media, online publishing, creating flyers, and website content creation<br \/>(not programming) are fundamental for this position. Solid writing ability is also important.<br \/>Design skills would be a plus, as would familiarity with print publications. An already<br \/>developed interest in coastal conservation, and knowledge of the Oregon coast and its<br \/>communities, would be desirable attributes.
