{"id":46091,"date":"2022-05-18T14:35:22","date_gmt":"2022-05-18T21:35:22","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/sites.evergreen.edu\/mesweekly\/?p=46091"},"modified":"2022-05-18T14:35:22","modified_gmt":"2022-05-18T21:35:22","slug":"job-riparian-botanist-university-of-montana-cody-wy","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/sites.evergreen.edu\/mesweekly\/job-riparian-botanist-university-of-montana-cody-wy\/","title":{"rendered":"Job: Riparian Botanist, University of Montana (Cody, WY)"},"content":{"rendered":"\n\n<p><!--more--><strong>For more information, please follow this link:<\/strong> <a href=\"mailto:andrew.britton@mso.umt.edu\">andrew.britton@mso.umt.edu<\/a> <\/p>\n<p><strong>Salary<\/strong>&#8211; $20-25\/hour, depending on experience<\/p>\n<p>The University of Montana\u2019s Ecological Mapping, Monitoring,<br \/>and Analysis group (EMMA) is currently recruiting RIPARIAN<br \/>BOTANISTS to assist in implementing the Bureau of Land<br \/>Management\u2019s (BLM) Aquatic Assessment, Inventory, and<br \/>Monitoring (AIM) strategy, targeted at collecting standardized<br \/>data on streams and riparian areas across BLM Districts in the<br \/>western U.S. The riparian botanist will be part of a 3-person crew,<br \/>consisting of a monitoring lead and aquatic technician. The<br \/>riparian botanist\u2019s responsibility is to collect vegetation<br \/>composition data along streams according to the BLM\u2019s Multiple<br \/>Indicator Monitoring (MIM) protocol. Successful applicants will<br \/>be trained in data collection methods by BLM and University of<br \/>Montana ecologists. Botanists should expect to encounter a<br \/>wide diversity of species and to gain experience in several<br \/>different biophysical environments.<br \/>All positions are field-based and require primitive camping in<br \/>isolated regions. Crews will typically work eight 10-hour days in a<br \/>row, from Tuesday to Tuesday, followed by six-days off.
