{"id":46054,"date":"2022-05-18T13:52:22","date_gmt":"2022-05-18T20:52:22","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/sites.evergreen.edu\/mesweekly\/?p=46054"},"modified":"2022-05-18T13:52:22","modified_gmt":"2022-05-18T20:52:22","slug":"job-environmental-scientist-wildlands-engineering-raleigh-nc","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/sites.evergreen.edu\/mesweekly\/job-environmental-scientist-wildlands-engineering-raleigh-nc\/","title":{"rendered":"Job: Environmental Scientist, Wildlands Engineering (Raleigh, NC)"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><!--more--><strong>For more information, please follow this link:<\/strong> <a href=\"https:\/\/environment.uw.edu\/career-opportunities\/environmental-scientist-9\/\">https:\/\/environment.uw.edu\/career-opportunities\/environmental-scientist-9\/<\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong>Salary<\/strong>&#8211; DOE<\/p>\n<p><strong>Job Description<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Key Responsibilities<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Perform stream and general ecological assessments<\/li>\n<li>Collect geomorphic data on existing and restored streams<\/li>\n<li>Perform vegetation surveys<\/li>\n<li>Process field data and organize data for annual reports<\/li>\n<li>Conduct jurisdictional delineations<\/li>\n<li>Permit preparation and agency coordination<\/li>\n<li>Effectively communicate and coordinate with team members<\/li>\n<li>Meet multiple deadlines with a willingness to react positively to changes in priorities<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Qualifications<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>1 to 3 years of experience related to the key responsibilities and requirements of the job<\/li>\n<li>Southeastern native and invasive plant identification skills<\/li>\n<li>Experience delineating streams and wetlands<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Preferred Qualifications<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Field monitoring practices including stream surveying, vegetation sampling, soil sampling, pebble counts, and stream morphology assessments<\/li>\n<li>Technical writing experience<\/li>\n<li>Threatened and endangered species survey experience<\/li>\n<li>Experience interfacing with landowners and agency officials<\/li>\n<li>An Understanding of ecological processes important to riparian and wetland restoration in the southeastern United States<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Physical Demands<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Ability to frequently walk over rough, uneven surfaces<\/li>\n<li>Ability to sustain periods of strenuous physical exertion<\/li>\n<li>Ability to lift up to 50 pounds<\/li>\n<li>Ability to work independently in an outdoor setting<\/li>\n<li>The requirements of the job and the physical demands are performed in outdoor weather conditions with frequent exposure to wet\/humid conditions and extreme heat or cold.
