Working in rivers has inherent dangers.<\/li>\n<li>The incumbent must be comfortable and able to snorkel upstream and downstream, wade in the river for extended periods of time, in high\/swift water conditions, on slippery and uneven surfaces, carry loads of approximately 50 pounds (backpack and 5-gallon buckets of water), and work under inclement weather condition.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/li>\n<li><strong>Schedule:<\/strong>\n<ol>\n<li>Typically, 7:00am-5:30pm Monday &#8211; Thursday.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/li>\n<li><strong>Travel Requirements:<\/strong>\n<ol>\n<li>Daily travel from Ellensburg to sample sites throughout the Yakima Basin.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/li>\n<li><strong>Tools and Equipment:<\/strong>\n<ol>\n<li>Backpack electrofisher, PIT tag reader, waders, flow meters, rafts, and basic hand tools.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/li>\n<li><strong>Customer Interactions:<\/strong>\n<ol>\n<li>This is a field position that generally interacts with private landowners, peers, other federal, state, tribal, local, and private entities.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Closely related qualifying experience may be substituted for the required education on a year-by-year basis.<\/p>\n<p>\n<strong>OR<\/strong><\/p>\n<div>\n<ul>\n<li>High school diploma or GED.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n<p><strong>License:<\/strong><\/p>\n<div>\n<ul>\n<li>Valid driver\u2019s license.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n<p><strong>Training:<\/strong><\/p>\n<div>\n<ul>\n<li>Must successfully complete WDFW snorkel training, First Aid\/CPR, and other required training.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n<p><strong>Ability to:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Collect data following set protocol.<\/li>\n<li>Accurately record data.<\/li>\n<li>Effectively communicate basic study objectives to the general public, landowners, etc.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Some experience in the following:\n<ol>\n<li>Snorkeling.<\/li>\n<li>Backpack electrofishing.<\/li>\n<li>PIT tagging.<\/li>\n<li>Identifying salmonids.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>CONDITION OF EMPLOYMENT:\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>As a result of Gov.
