{"id":45963,"date":"2022-05-05T11:07:24","date_gmt":"2022-05-05T18:07:24","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/sites.evergreen.edu\/mesweekly\/?p=45963"},"modified":"2022-05-05T11:07:24","modified_gmt":"2022-05-05T18:07:24","slug":"job-invasive-species-technician-dept-of-fish-and-wildlife-mount-vernon-wa","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/sites.evergreen.edu\/mesweekly\/job-invasive-species-technician-dept-of-fish-and-wildlife-mount-vernon-wa\/","title":{"rendered":"Job Invasive Species Technician, Dept. of Fish and Wildlife (Mount Vernon, WA)"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><!--more--><span id=\"more-45905\"><\/span><strong>For more information, please follow this link:<\/strong> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.governmentjobs.com\/careers\/washington\/jobs\/3536682\/natural-resource-technician-2-invasive-species-technician-non-permanent-06\">https:\/\/www.governmentjobs.com\/careers\/washington\/jobs\/3536682\/natural-resource-technician-2-invasive-species-technician-non-permanent-06<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Salary- $2,738.00 &#8211; $3,535.00 Monthly<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>Our Invasive Species Technician,\u00a0<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Implements Integrated Pest Management (IPM) principles to manage invasive vegetation using pesticides, planting of competing vegetation, spray equipment and mowing\/digging equipment.<\/li>\n<li>Based on gathered data and field experience, recommends changes to improve outcomes.<\/li>\n<li>Operates and performs maintenance and repair on airboats, marshmasters, trailers, trucks, pumps, and other power equipment.<\/li>\n<li>Gathers pre- and post-treatment data on vegetation, weeds and treatment methods using apps, forms, cameras, and notebooks for later analysis.<\/li>\n<li>Represents the agency on a site heading and training work crews on equipment and restoration projects, as well as being the liaison when working with other agencies.<\/li>\n<li>Participates in other projects and supports other programs when needed.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>WORKING CONDITIONS:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Work Setting, including hazards:<\/strong>\n<ol>\n<li>Intertidal regions of Washington and in remote fields approximately 75% of the time. Outdoors and in all inclement weather.<\/li>\n<li>Walk, bend, stoop, and carry or move up to 40 pounds (backpack of gear, moving channel crossings, herbicide boxes, and water tanks) over difficult terrain, including slippery rocks, steep banks, and mud.<\/li>\n<li>Load and transport gear.<\/li>\n<li>Work with pesticides.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/li>\n<li><strong>Schedule:<\/strong>\n<ol>\n<li>Monday \u2013 Friday, 40 hours\/week.<\/li>\n<li>Start times are set by the best available tides and may require early morning starts.<\/li>\n<li>Some mandatory overtime may be required.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/li>\n<li><strong>Travel Requirements:<\/strong>\n<ol>\n<li>Occasional weekend and overnight travel.<\/li>\n<li>Occasional overnight travel may be up to 5 days in a row.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/li>\n<li><strong>Tools and Equipment:<\/strong>\n<ol>\n<li>Small mechanical equipment (brush cutters), chemical application equipment.<\/li>\n<li>Trucks, swamp buggies, airboats, and all-terrain vehicles.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/li>\n<li><strong>Customer Interactions:<\/strong>\n<ol>\n<li>Interaction with other agencies and the public will occur regularly to explain weed control work to the public.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>College level work in the field of fish, wildlife, or habitat management, agriculture, forestry, or a natural resource science may substitute year-for-year for experience.<\/p>\n<p><strong>OR<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Three (3) years of experience as a Natural Resource Worker or equivalent.\n<ol>\n<li>(Natural Resource Worker \u2013 Definition: Under close supervision and as a member of an organized crew, performs unskilled forest, agriculture, and\/or aquatic land management labor.)<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>License:<\/strong><\/p>\n<div>\n<ul>\n<li>Valid driver\u2019s license.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n<p><strong>PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Experience with and\/or understanding of:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Boats and amphibious tractors.<\/li>\n<li>Marine environment and biology\/botany.<\/li>\n<li>Field work.<\/li>\n<li>Herbicide application.<\/li>\n<li>Basic mechanical\/small engine repair.<\/li>\n<li>Handheld GPS and other position collecting devices.<\/li>\n<li>Developing positive, productive, respectful working relationships with coworkers and collaborators.<\/li>\n<li>Leading small work crews.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>CONDITION OF EMPLOYMENT:\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>As a result of Gov.
