Seasonal Biological Technician:<\/span><\/strong>
\uf0b7<\/span> Openings<\/span>: Six (6)<\/span>
\uf0b7<\/span> Focus & Location<\/span>: To conduct stream habitat surveys in the backcountry of Northwestern Washington<\/span>
forests in the upper Skagit River, and tributaries of Ross Lake using USFS Level II survey methods.<\/span>
\uf0b7<\/span> Field Work<\/span>: This position provides entry-level field support by assisting Biologists. Field work will be<\/span>
conducted in two-person teams on a 7-day-on, 5-day-off rotation. Lodging will be provided for some<\/span>
portions of the 7-day working period; however, a large portion of the work will occur while backcountry<\/span>
camping. Field technicians will be supervised by the Fish Ecology Lab in Portland, OR.<\/span>
\uf0b7<\/span> Approximate Employment Dates<\/span>: July 1<\/span>st<\/span> \u2013 October 14<\/span>th<\/span>
\uf0b7<\/span> Pay Rate<\/span>: $19-$22\/hour depending on experience.<\/span>
Essential Job Functions:<\/span>
\uf0b7<\/span> Perform stream habitat surveys following USFS Level II surveys for classifying and measuring attributes of<\/span>
channel units, large wood, gradient, substrate size, discharge and water quality parameters, and<\/span>
measurements of streamside vegetation conditions.<\/span>
\uf0b7<\/span> Provide support in collecting fish with a backpack electrofisher and collecting fish tissues.<\/span>
\uf0b7<\/span> Ability to accurately interpret and follow established guidelines and protocols as you conduct data<\/span>
collection, entry, organization, and quality assurance\/control.<\/span>
\uf0b7<\/span> Prepare and organize the upkeep of all equipment and supplies needed for field work.<\/span>
\uf0b7<\/span> Using GPS devices, hiking to and working in remote field sites in the Northern Washington Cascades.<\/span>
