{"id":45400,"date":"2022-03-09T10:32:30","date_gmt":"2022-03-09T18:32:30","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/sites.evergreen.edu\/mesweekly\/?p=45400"},"modified":"2022-03-09T10:32:30","modified_gmt":"2022-03-09T18:32:30","slug":"job-fish-hatchery-technician-dept-of-fish-and-wildlife-other-wa-2","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/sites.evergreen.edu\/mesweekly\/job-fish-hatchery-technician-dept-of-fish-and-wildlife-other-wa-2\/","title":{"rendered":"Job: Fish Hatchery Technician, Dept. of Fish and Wildlife (Other, WA)"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><!--more--><strong>For more information, please follow this link:<\/strong> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.governmentjobs.com\/careers\/washington\/jobs\/3459171\/fish-hatchery-technician-samish-hatchery-non-permanent-03408-22\">https:\/\/www.governmentjobs.com\/careers\/washington\/jobs\/3459171\/fish-hatchery-technician-samish-hatchery-non-permanent-03408-22<\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong>Salary-<\/strong> $2,552.00 &#8211; $3,294.00<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>Our Fish Hatchery Technician,\u00a0<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Performs fish culture. \u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Feeds fish their calculated daily ration.<\/li>\n<li>Monitors fish behavior and health, predominately aware of potential breakouts of columnaris and Ichthyophthirius.<\/li>\n<li>Monitors egg and fish production.<\/li>\n<li>Administers therapeutants, calculates and administers drugs as prescribed.<\/li>\n<li>Identifies, sorts, and samples species for spawning and adult distribution.<\/li>\n<li>Cleans ponds and raceways, troughs, and incubator systems to maintain fish health.<\/li>\n<li>Identifies marked adults and collects tags\/marks for bio sampling as directed and records data.<\/li>\n<li>Collects fish tissue and fluid samples and records data.<\/li>\n<li>Performs fish inventories, splits, grading, marking trailer inventories, weight samples and plants.<\/li>\n<li>Works at all other facilities in the Mt Baker Complex on all aspects of fish culture.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Operation and maintenance of facility and equipment.<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Operates tractor and vehicles for hatchery use.<\/li>\n<li>Organizes and maintains hatchery tools, equipment, and grounds.<\/li>\n<li>Communicates safety concerns in a timely and accurate manner (management to staff and staff to management).<\/li>\n<li>Uses tools and equipment properly and safely.<\/li>\n<li>Stores tools and equipment properly.<\/li>\n<li>Monitors water flow and quality parameters; takes water samples and readings, e.g.<\/li>\n<li>dissolved gases, suspended settleable solids, and other parameters as required.<\/li>\n<li>Maintains proper water flow and rearing environments.<\/li>\n<li>Responds to alarms, determining and taking appropriate action.<\/li>\n<li>Monitors and maintains facility support systems.<\/li>\n<li>Actively identifies safety hazards and takes action or recommends remedies as appropriate.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Conducts Record Keeping and Reporting, and Public Contact.\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Responds to questions from visitors to the facility.<\/li>\n<li>Conducts organized tours.<\/li>\n<li>Interacts with the public in a polite, professional manner.<\/li>\n<li>Identifies the best way to respond when faced with difficult-to-answer questions or when information is not readily obtainable.<\/li>\n<li>Follows up to ensure that an answer was obtained.<\/li>\n<li>Enters data into forms and spreadsheets; demonstrates proficiency with computerized forms and accuracy in recordkeeping (fish mortality, feed sheets, feed inventory, chemical usage).<\/li>\n<li>Fills out standard report forms.
