ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS\/MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:<\/span><\/span><\/strong>
\uf0e0<\/span> Nest monitoring and territory mapping of imperiled birds following detailed protocols.<\/span><\/span>
\uf0e0<\/span> Accurately re<\/span>–<\/span>sight color<\/span>–<\/span>banded birds in a variety<\/span> of habitats and weather conditions.<\/span><\/span>
\uf0e0<\/span> Conduct bird surveys including lark standardized surveys, point counts, and line transects.<\/span><\/span>
\uf0e0<\/span> Meticulously maintain a field notebook including detailed observations and activity log for<\/span>
each day.<\/span><\/span>
\uf0e0<\/span> Enter data on a daily bas<\/span>is into appropriate databases such as Access, Google Drive, etc.<\/span><\/span>
\uf0e0<\/span> Track birds with binoculars and spotting scope, document and communicate their status<\/span>
and locations, and be sensitive to ground nests underfoot.<\/span><\/span>
\uf0e0<\/span> Conduct quantitative and qualitative monitorin<\/span>g of grassland birds under the guidance of<\/span>
Avian Monitoring Team members and partner\u2019s scientists.<\/span><\/span>
\uf0e0<\/span> Operate equipment such as binoculars, spotting scope, GPS, two<\/span>–<\/span>way radios, and apps on<\/span>
mobile device such as Survey123.<\/span><\/span>
\uf0e0<\/span> Conduct routine maintenance of all eq<\/span>uipment used in implementing duties.<\/span><\/span>
\uf0e0<\/span> Maintain state<\/span>–<\/span>of<\/span>–<\/span>the<\/span>–<\/span>art knowledge of the avian monitoring techniques utilized by the<\/span>
team. Communicate the correct and safe implementation of these techniques to other<\/span>
crewmembers, partners and volunteers.<\/span><\/span>
\uf0e0<\/span> Understan<\/span>d and be able to communicate clearly the value and benefit of bird, and<\/span>
specifically lark, conservation and recovery to the military mission.<\/span><\/span>
\uf0e0<\/span> Work collaboratively with resource agencies, consultants, and other conservation<\/span>
organizations.<\/span><\/span>
