Technician positions are expected to be involved in supporting a number of<\/span><br role=\"presentation\" \/><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">restoration projects. Possible projects areas include: upland and\/or aquatic invasive weed control;<\/span><br role=\"presentation\" \/><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">silvicultural treatments and forest invasive weed control; prescribed fire operations, burn unit<\/span><br role=\"presentation\" \/><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">preparation and post-burn follow up work; and prairie habitat restoration. Some positions will primarily<\/span><br role=\"presentation\" \/><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">focus on prescribed fire, while other positions will focus on non-prescribed fire restoration activities.<\/span><br role=\"presentation\" \/><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">Applicant interest, skillset and position availability will determine specific position assignment and focus<\/span><br role=\"presentation\" \/><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">areas. All positions will entail strenuous physical activity and operation of heavy equipment. The<\/span><br role=\"presentation\" \/><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">Restoration Technician is a full-time, seasonal, non-exempt position supervised by the Joint Base Lewis-<\/span><br role=\"presentation\" \/><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">McChord Program Manager.<\/span><\/span><span id=\"page247R_mcid18\" class=\"markedContent\"><\/span><span id=\"page247R_mcid19\" class=\"markedContent\"><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span id=\"page247R_mcid19\" class=\"markedContent\"><br role=\"presentation\" \/><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">This position requires a sound work ethic, interpersonal skills, and positive attitude during long field<\/span><br role=\"presentation\" \/><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">days. Development of positive and effective relationships with volunteers and partners is critical. The<\/span><br role=\"presentation\" \/><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">Technician must also be able to work independently, completing substantial tasks without direct<\/span><br role=\"presentation\" \/><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">supervision or through the supervision of conservation partners, including federal and state agency<\/span><br role=\"presentation\" \/><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">personnel, such as the WA Dept. of Natural Resources, WA Dept. of Fish and Wildlife, and Joint Base<\/span><br role=\"presentation\" \/><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">Lewis-McChord Fish and Wildlife and Forestry staff. The South Sound Program is science-based and the<\/span><br role=\"presentation\" \/><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">Technician will be required to document and appropriately file all data pertinent to the operations on a<\/span><br role=\"presentation\" \/><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">regular basis.<\/span><\/span><span id=\"page247R_mcid20\" class=\"markedContent\"><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span id=\"page247R_mcid20\" class=\"markedContent\"><br role=\"presentation\" \/><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">The Technician is expected to be an integral member of our team. The Technician will become a staff<\/span><br role=\"presentation\" \/><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">information source on the effective and efficient implementation of restoration actions.
