{"id":45141,"date":"2022-02-09T13:17:07","date_gmt":"2022-02-09T21:17:07","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/sites.evergreen.edu\/mesweekly\/?p=45141"},"modified":"2022-02-09T13:17:07","modified_gmt":"2022-02-09T21:17:07","slug":"job-autofish-system-operator-dept-of-fish-and-wildlife-olympia-wa","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/sites.evergreen.edu\/mesweekly\/job-autofish-system-operator-dept-of-fish-and-wildlife-olympia-wa\/","title":{"rendered":"Job: AutoFish System Operator, Dept. of Fish and Wildlife (Olympia, WA)"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><!--more--><strong>For more information, please follow this link:<\/strong> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.governmentjobs.com\/careers\/washington\/jobs\/3416550\/fish-wildlife-biologist-1-autofish-system-operator-nine-openings-non-perm\">https:\/\/www.governmentjobs.com\/careers\/washington\/jobs\/3416550\/fish-wildlife-biologist-1-autofish-system-operator-nine-openings-non-perm<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Salary- $39,528.00 &#8211; $51,432.00 Annually<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>Our Fish &amp; Wildlife Biologist 1\u2019s,\u00a0<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Assist in organizing and conducting coded wire tagging.<\/li>\n<li>Diagnose and repair problems with state-of-the-art automated marking\/tagging mobile wet labs including complex robotic systems, video imaging systems, and complex software.<\/li>\n<li>Maintain data records of tag codes and production numbers with a high degree of accuracy.<\/li>\n<li>Monitor fish health and life support systems in the AutoTrailer including water flow, fish behavior, communicating fish health issues to appropriate hatchery staff.<\/li>\n<li>Monitor work product by collecting quality retention samples and conducting pondside quality checks to provide sound scientific results.<\/li>\n<li>Work with hatchery staff to load fish into automated trailer as needed to maintain production levels.<\/li>\n<li>Communicate shift successes and challenges effectively.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>WORKING CONDITIONS:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Work Setting, including hazards:<\/strong>\n<ul>\n<li>Work is performed in automated coded wire tag mobile wet lab, hatchery environment, and an office setting \u2013 may encounter inclement weather.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li><strong>Schedule: \u00a0\u00a0<\/strong>\n<ol>\n<li>Typically, work schedule is 8:00 a.m. &#8211; 5:00 p.m. Monday &#8211; Friday with considerable overtime and possible shift work.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/li>\n<li><strong>Travel Requirements:<\/strong>\n<ul>\n<li>Extensive travel and driving required \u2013 up to six months per year, 5 days a week.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li><strong>Tools and Equipment:\u00a0<\/strong>\n<ol>\n<li>Electric hand tools, basic hand tools.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/li>\n<li><strong>Customer Interactions:<\/strong>\n<ul>\n<li>Regular interactions with Biologists, Hatchery personnel, Tribal Staff, and general public.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li><strong>Other:\u00a0<\/strong>\n<ol>\n<li>Frequent lifting or moving equipment and fish of more than 40 pounds unassisted.<\/li>\n<li>Work can be around hatchery ponds, and catwalks over hatchery ponds.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:<\/strong><\/p>\n<div>\n<ul>\n<li>Bachelor&#8217;s degree in fisheries, wildlife management, natural resource science, or environmental science. <strong>\u00a0 \u00a0\u00a0<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n<p><strong>OR<\/strong><\/p>\n<div>\n<ul>\n<li>Equivalent education\/experience.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n<p><strong>Certifications\/Licenses:\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul type=\"disc\">\n<li>Valid Driver\u2019s License.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Knowledge and experience:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Operating an automated or manual coded wire tagging\/mass marking mobile wet lab.<\/li>\n<li>Operating and maintaining Mark IV coded wire tag injectors.<\/li>\n<li>Using a coded wire tag system.<\/li>\n<li>Working with all types of Electronic Coded Wire Tag Detectors.<\/li>\n<li>Working in a salmon hatchery environment.<\/li>\n<li>Supervising or directing employees.<\/li>\n<li>Working independently and be self-motivated.<\/li>\n<li>Working with hand tools for general repairs to mechanical devices.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>CONDITION OF EMPLOYMENT:\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>As a result of Gov.
