Hours will be flexible and may include weekends and <\/span><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">evenings. The Mason County Noxious Weed Control Program works to prevent and reduce the economic, <\/span><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">environmental and social impacts of noxious weeds in Mason County. The program\u2019s focus is to achieve <\/span><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">voluntary control of noxious weeds through education and technical assistance to landowners.<\/span><\/span><span id=\"page104R_mcid6\" class=\"markedContent\"><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span id=\"page104R_mcid6\" class=\"markedContent\"><br role=\"presentation\" \/><strong><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">Examples of Duties<\/span><\/strong><\/span><span id=\"page104R_mcid7\" class=\"markedContent\"><br role=\"presentation\" \/><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">Working with the public and property owners to educate and achieve compliance with Washington State<\/span><br role=\"presentation\" \/><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">Noxious Weed Control Laws. Assist with conducting field surveys and mapping weed infestations utilizing<\/span><br role=\"presentation\" \/><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">GPS\/GIS<\/span> <span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">equipment.<\/span> <span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">Operate<\/span> <span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">county<\/span> <span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">vehicle<\/span> <span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">to<\/span> <span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">facilitate<\/span> <span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">field<\/span> <span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">inspections<\/span> <span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">and<\/span> <span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">transport<\/span> <span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">of<\/span> <span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">equipment,<\/span><br role=\"presentation\" \/><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">personnel and materials to work sites. Participate directly in weed control activities, including the use of<\/span><br role=\"presentation\" \/><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">herbicide and physical removal. Must be able to walk on uneven terrain and work in inclement weather.<\/span><br role=\"presentation\" \/><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">Maintain data in program databases, including GIS and Excel.<\/span><\/span><span id=\"page104R_mcid8\" class=\"markedContent\"><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span id=\"page104R_mcid8\" class=\"markedContent\"><br role=\"presentation\" \/><strong><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">Minimum Requirements<\/span><\/strong><\/span><span id=\"page104R_mcid9\" class=\"markedContent\"><br role=\"presentation\" \/><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">1+ years of college level training in plant biology, natural sciences, natural resource management, weed<\/span><br role=\"presentation\" \/><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">identification and\/or related field (experience may be substituted for education on a year-for-year basis).<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span id=\"page104R_mcid9\" class=\"markedContent\"><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\"> Ability <\/span><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">to identify noxious weeds found in Washington. Knowledge of noxious weed taxonomy, biology and impacts. <\/span><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">Familiarity with integrated pest management and weed control methods. Demonstrated field experience in <\/span><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">managing noxious weed infestations and their impacts to natural resources. Knowledge of Washington State <\/span><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">Noxious Weed Control law and other relevant local, state and federal laws. Knowledge of Microsoft Excel <\/span><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">database. Possession of a valid Washington State Driver\u2019s license prior to employment. Ability to conduct <\/span><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">noxious weed surveys from a vehicle, and on foot over terrain of varying difficulty, including steep areas and <\/span><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">dense vegetation. The position will require work in the outdoors under a variety of weather conditions. Lifting of <\/span><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">materials up to 30 pounds, exposure to pesticides, traffic and aquatic hazards will be encountered.
