In this role, you will be a leader for the program, providing assistance to other compliance inspectors and helping facilities come into compliance with permits that protect water quality.<\/p>\n<p>You&#8217;ll do this by:<\/p>\n<ul type=\"disc\">\n<li>Inspecting sites for compliance with permit requirements.<\/li>\n<li>Responding to water quality complaints and providing technical assistance to construction projects regarding best management practices, laws, rules, and permit requirements.<\/li>\n<li>Developing Administrative Orders for sites with known soil or groundwater contamination.<\/li>\n<li>Reviewing Stormwater Pollution Prevention Plans (SWPPP) and analyzing laboratory data.<\/li>\n<li>Developing inspection reports, warning letters, and recommendations for formal enforcement actions.<\/li>\n<li>Presenting before judicial courts and boards, representing the program and agency management, and testifying at legal hearings.<\/li>\n<li>Leading the day-to-day work of other construction compliance specialists in the region, which includes:\n<ul>\n<li>Assigning priority inspections.<\/li>\n<li>Reviewing and correcting inspection reports and enforcement documents.<\/li>\n<li>Instructing and assisting with proper enforcement actions and follow up.<\/li>\n<li>Coordinating training and certification needs.<\/li>\n<li>Overseeing the tracking and reporting of compliance and enforcement actions.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong><u>Required Qualifications:<\/u><\/strong><br \/>\nExperience for both required and desired qualifications can be gained through various combinations of formal professional employment, educational and volunteer experience. See below for how you may qualify.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Option 1<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Nine (9) years of education and\/ or experience:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Education<\/strong>: involving major study in environmental, physical, or one of the natural sciences, environmental planning or other allied field.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Experience<\/strong>: in environmental analysis or control, or environmental planning.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<div>Experience <u><strong>may<\/strong><\/u> include a combination of the following:<\/div>\n<ul>\n<li>Responding to environmental complaints or violations.<\/li>\n<li>Writing scientific or inspection reports or documents.<\/li>\n<li>Explaining complex environmental rules or regulations.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Option 2<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>A Bachelor\u2019s degree involving major study in environmental physical, or one of the natural sciences, environmental planning or other allied filed.<\/li>\n<li>Five (5) years of professional-level experience in environmental analysis or control, or environmental planning which may include experience as listed in Option 1 above<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Option<br \/>\n<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>A Master\u2019s degree involving major study in environmental, physical, or one of the natural sciences, environmental planning or other allied field.<\/li>\n<li>Three (3) years of experience in environmental analysis or control, or environmental planning. which may include experience as listed in Option 1 above.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Option 4<br \/>\n<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>A PhD involving major study in environmental, physical, or one of the natural sciences, environmental planning or other allied field.<\/li>\n<li>Two (2) years of experience in environmental analysis or control, or environmental planning. which\u00a0may include experience as listed in Option 1 above.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<div><strong>Option 5<\/strong><\/div>\n<ul>\n<li>\n<div>Two years of experience as an Environmental Specialist 3 at the Department of Ecology.<\/div>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong><br \/>\n<\/strong>All experience and
