Salary-<\/strong> $34,320<\/span> \u2013<\/span> $51,480 salaried<\/span> (<\/span>at 80% FTE<\/span>),<\/span> dependent<\/span> on experience and location<\/span><\/p>\n

Responsibilities<\/span><\/strong>
The Development Director will develop and implement key strategies and actions to secure an annual<\/span>
budget ($800,000 in FY22) and will play a critical role in ensuring the future growth of RFG. This position<\/span>
will be responsible for relation<\/span>ship cultivation with individual supporters, developing compelling<\/span>
language for proposals and acknowledgments, grant applications and grants management, developing<\/span>
and implementing key fundraising strategies with a focus on large gifts, and supporting the<\/span> Grassroots<\/span>
Communications Coordinator in building an active base of individual supporters nationally.<\/span>
The Development Director will: 1) cultivate relationships with new individual donors and nourish<\/span>
existing relationships; 2) ensure up<\/span>–<\/span>to<\/span>–<\/span>date, compelling<\/span> language for asks and acknowledgements; 3)<\/span>
lead grant application and reporting activities; 4) work closely with the Grassroots Communications and<\/span>
Fundraising Coordinator to increase individual giving on the grassroots level; and 5) create and<\/span>
implement a<\/span> robust development strategy to ensure long<\/span>–<\/span>term sustainability of the organization. This<\/span>
individual will be expected to take initiative, problem<\/span>–<\/span>solve on the fly and work with a diverse, and often<\/span>
geographically dispersed team. <\/span><\/p>\n

Responsibilities include:<\/span><\/strong>

\u25cf<\/span> Identify and secure new funding opportunities for the organization, based on established<\/span>
organizational and programmatic goals, through research and networking<\/span>
\u25cf<\/span> Develop and implement robust donor engagement<\/span> strategies<\/span>
\u25cf<\/span> Drive fundraising strategies, coordinated with RFG initiatives when appropriate (e.g.<\/span>
identifying programmatic activities that could foster support)<\/span>
\u25cf<\/span> Coordinate with Grassroots Communications and Fundraising Coordinator to maintain the<\/span>
donor data<\/span>base and to train staff to use the database to track interactions with their contacts.<\/span>
\u25cf<\/span> Manage and nourish relationships with supporters<\/span>
\u25cf<\/span> Manage and delegate fundraising administrative tasks, e.g. gift acknowledgments,<\/span>
maintaining online donation processing<\/span> systems<\/span>
Increasing Income from Foundations and Grants:<\/span>
\u25cf<\/span> Identify new opportunities for grant funding; secure grants from foundations and other funders<\/span>
\u25cf<\/span> Manage grant proposal and reporting deadlines and improve grants tracking systems<\/span>
\u25cf<\/span> Craft new, updated, an<\/span>d engaging language for grant proposals and reports<\/span>
\u25cf<\/span> Maintain relationships with key contacts at funding organizations<\/span>
Other Activities, Including:<\/span>
\u25cf<\/span> Identify and implement earned revenue opportunities<\/span>
\u25cf<\/span> Identify opportunities to engage advisory board members i<\/span>n fundraising<\/span>
\u25cf<\/span> Manage the development and fundraising budget<\/span>
\u25cf<\/span> Ensure that goals and success metrics communicated to donors and funders align with<\/span>
organizational plans and strategies; collect progress updates from the team as needed<\/span><\/p>\n

Additional<\/span> Information<\/span><\/strong>
\u25cf<\/span> We seek to fill this position immediately. Applications will be reviewed on a rolling<\/span> bas<\/span>is<\/span>.<\/span>
\u25cf<\/span> This position may involve travel 4<\/span>–<\/span>6 times per year, including strategy retreats, actions<\/span>,<\/span> and<\/span>
trainings, in accordance with trav<\/span>el and safety guidelines due to COVID<\/span>–<\/span>19. There may be<\/span>
additional opportunities to represent Real Food Generation at conferences and to attend<\/span>
trainings for professional development.<\/span>
\u25cf<\/span> This is a Part<\/span>–<\/span>Time position at 30 hours per week with the potential to e<\/span>xtend to Full Time based<\/span>
on need and budget. Occasional evening work may be required.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u25cf<\/span> An understanding of and passion for food justice, racial justice<\/span>,<\/span> and youth power.<\/span>
\u25cf<\/span> A passion for food sovereignty and a clear personal stake in<\/span> transforming the food system and<\/span>
higher ed\u2019s role in the food system.<\/span>
\u25cf<\/span> A commitment to anti<\/span>–<\/span>racism, economic justice, collective liberation, and youth power.<\/span>
\u25cf<\/span> A proven track record of successful fundraising for social movements, including major gifts, and<\/span>
la<\/span>rge ($50k<\/span>–<\/span>$100K+) and multi<\/span>–<\/span>year grant commitments.<\/span>
\u25cf<\/span> 5+ years experience in donor development or fundraising.<\/span>
\u25cf<\/span> Experience managing relationships and stewarding individuals towards giving.<\/span>
\u25cf<\/span> Experience with budget management and database management.<\/span>
\u25cf<\/span> Experience<\/span> and comfort with maintaining sensitive, confidential information.<\/span>
\u25cf<\/span> Demonstrated ability to think strategically and critically, and to build a robust and diversified<\/span>
funding base for long<\/span>–<\/span>term growth of the organization<\/span>
\u25cf<\/span> Experience with social movements and<\/span> community organizing is preferred.<\/span>
\u25cf<\/span> Strong writing and public speaking skills;<\/span>
\u25cf<\/span> Strong self<\/span>–<\/span>motivation and an eagerness to be challenged.<\/span>
\u25cf<\/span> Team leadership experience.<\/span>
\u25cf<\/span> Ability to manage multiple projects, prioritize and problem solve while working with a<\/span> team<\/span>
through a remote setting.<\/span>
\u25cf<\/span> Exceptionally well organized with an eye for detail.<\/span>
\u25cf<\/span> Understanding of activism and activism<\/span>–<\/span>based group dynamics.<\/span><\/p>\n
