We seek\u00a0an\u00a0outstanding scholar\u00a0who\u00a0will establish an innovative research program\u00a0that\u00a0strengthens\u00a0current\u00a0expertise in the\u00a0UNLV\u00a0College of Sciences. The position will be housed in:\u00a0the Department of\u00a0Chemistry\u00a0and Biochemistry, Geoscience,\u00a0Physics and Astronomy, or the\u00a0School of\u00a0Life Sciences;\u00a0however,\u00a0a split appointment will be considered. The successful candidate will\u00a0complement existing strengths\u00a0in the home unit,\u00a0and demonstrate a strong commitment to teaching at both graduate and undergraduate levels.<\/p>\n<p>The successful candidate is expected to investigate scientific questions related to the broad field of\u00a0Sustainability in Arid Lands,\u00a0possible research topics include,\u00a0but\u00a0are\u00a0not limited to:\u00a0solar energy materials and devices;\u00a0water resources and hydrological processes in arid environments;\u00a0climate change and variability;\u00a0groundwater resource sustainability and management;\u00a0watershed studies;\u00a0emission and migration of radionuclides\u00a0in the vadose zone;\u00a0aerosols and fugitive radionuclide emissions and links to climate change;\u00a0spatial analysis of ecological change; and\u00a0linkages between regional climate, landscape\u00a0change, and environmental quality in\u00a0the arid Southwest.\u00a0The start of the appointment\u00a0is anticipated to be August 2022.<\/p>\n<p>The candidate is also expected to develop (Assistant-level), or show evidence of (Associate-level) a rigorous\u00a0externally funded\u00a0research program and to supervise graduate students at both the Master&#8217;s and Doctoral levels.\u00a0Demonstrated teaching experience is desirable.<\/p>\n<p><b>VACCINATION MANDATE POLICY<\/b><\/p>\n<p>Per the\u00a0<u>Nevada System of Higher Education (NSHE) Emergency COVID-19 Employee Vaccination Policy<\/u>, all NSHE employees must be vaccinated against COVID-19 or have an approved medical or religious waiver request.
