Receive training, feedback, and support to lead inquiry-based water education programs primarily for K-6 grade students.<\/p>\n<p><em><strong>Dedicate 8-20 hours\/week<\/strong><\/em> each semester assisting with instruction in field trip programming<br \/>\nAssist with program set up and clean up. Create and evaluate teaching tools and classroom management strategies to ensure that youth programs are culturally relevant and inclusive to all learner types and backgrounds, including class chaperones and English language learners. Identify opportunities to extend student field trip experiences by developing take home tools for students to spark conversation with their families about water conservation.<\/p>\n<p><strong> Skills interns will gain:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><em>Gain experience<\/em><\/strong> with Next Generation Science. Standards (NGSS) and Environmental Principles and Concepts (EP&amp;Cs) in an outdoor and nonformal science education setting.<\/p>\n<p><em><strong>Increase competence<\/strong><\/em> and confidence in science communication as it relates to water and conservation<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>Build skills<\/em> <\/strong>in behavior and classroom management<\/p>\n<p><em><strong>Develop<\/strong> <\/em>public speaking, teaching, and curriculum development skills<\/p>\n<p><em><strong>Gain experience<\/strong><\/em> to test and evaluate methods for culturally relevant water education curriculum and<br \/>\ninstruction design. Attend relevant professional development trainings.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Knowledge &amp; Experience <\/strong><br \/>\n<strong>Required<\/strong><br \/>\nCurrent enrollment at a participating California public higher education institution<br \/>\nProof of COVID-19 vaccination<\/p>\n<p>Availability on Tue. \u2013 Thur., 8:30am \u2013 12:30pm<\/p>\n<p><strong>Preferred<\/strong><br \/>\nInterest in education, natural resources management, environmental science and\/or similar fields is necessary for success in the position. Classroom and behavior management skills Curriculum and instruction with youth TK-8th grade<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p><strong>Additional Eligibility Qualifications: <\/strong><br \/>\nApplicants who are selected for hire are fingerprinted during the pre-placement processing period. All fingerprints will be processed with the Department of Justice to verify criminal records or<br \/>\nabsence thereof. Complete 2-hour Mandated Reporter training within first week of employment Complete 1-hour Sexual Harassment training within first month of employment<\/p>\n<p><strong>COMPENSATION<\/strong><br \/>\nThrough a partnership with CSUSB Water Resources Institute, undergraduate interns will be paid $15\/hour<br \/>\nand can work a maximum of 360 hours, not to exceed 20 hours per week.
