Details and link will be sent to those able to join as the date gets closer.<\/b><\/p>\n<p>The Environmental Fellows Program (EFP) at the Yale School of the Environment (YSE), in partnership with the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/ega.org\/\">Environmental Grantmakers Association (EGA)<\/a>, is a 12-week\u00a0<em><strong>summer fellowship\u00a0opportunity<\/strong><\/em>\u00a0that seeks to diversify the environmental field by cultivating the career aspirations of master\u2019s and doctoral students from\u00a0<strong><em>historically underrepresented groups\u00a0<\/em><\/strong>by connecting students to work opportunities in environmental nonprofits, grant makers, and government sectors.<\/p>\n<p>This program arose out of a collaboration between University of Michigan\u2019s School for Environment and Sustainability, the Environmental Grantmakers Association (EGA), and the C.S. Mott Foundation. The collaborators recognized the need for a program to identify and train diverse students to work in environmental and philanthropic sectors. This fellowship is supported by several philanthropic organizations.<\/p>\n<p>The Environmental Fellows Program is looking for future leaders and decision-makers in the rapidly changing fields of conservation, justice, equity, and philanthropy. We are looking for graduate students who:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>want to broaden their environmental knowledge and perspectives;<\/li>\n<li>want to build their leadership and communication skills;<\/li>\n<li>who want to gain valuable work experience;<\/li>\n<li>are passionate about diversifying the environmental field;<\/li>\n<li>are committed to supporting and advocating for the principles of equity and inclusion;<\/li>\n<li>are interested in learning about environmental grantmaking and its impacts on local, national, and international environmental work;<\/li>\n<li>want to be a part of an emerging network.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline\">The Environmental Fellows Program has the following components:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>a paid, 12-week internship (May-August)\n<ul>\n<li>Students are usually placed in mainstream environmental organizations, nonprofits, social justice organizations, philanthropic organizations, environmental\u00a0media outlets, policy think tanks,\u00a0governmental institutions, or grassroots environmental organizations.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>a five-day orientation at the University of Michigan (late May)<\/li>\n<li><em>NEW this year!<\/em>\u00a0A three-day, all Fellow, mid-summer skills workshop at the University of Michigan<\/li>\n<li>attendance to the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/dev.environmentalfellows.yale.edu\/program-overview\/environmental-grantmakers-association-fall-retreat\">Environmental Grantmakers Association\u2019s annual Fall retreat<\/a><a href=\"https:\/\/environmentalfellows.yale.edu\/legacy\/environmental-grantmakers-association-fall-retreat\">\u00a0<\/a>(late September)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>After completing the program, alumni are invited to attend the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/jedsi.yale.edu\/new-horizons-conservation\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">New Horizons in Conservation Conference<\/a>. This annual conference is held in late April in places like Washington, D.C. and Chicago.<\/p>\n<h3>Funding<\/h3>\n<p>Accepted students will receive a\u00a0base stipend of $11,000\u00a0paid in regular disbursements throughout the summer, as well as a small travel award for travel required as part of the fellowship. Travel to the Environmental Grantmakers Fall Retreat will be covered by the Environmental Fellows Program and EGA partnership.<\/p>\n<h3>Program Expectations<\/h3>\n<p>During the fellowship, host site mentors will meet regularly with fellows to discuss work progress.
