We are seeking a Silviculture Support Forester to join our State Lands Team and \u00a0assist in the Forest Health and Reforestation program. This position assists the Intensive Management Forester by implementing sound ecologically based forest management activities that meet the agencies trust obligations. The Silviculture Support Forester Forester will enjoy the opportunity to work throughout the entire Northeast Region and explore state lands by truck, ATV, snowmobile, and on foot.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Duties<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Responsibilities:<\/strong><br \/>This position will help coordinate the planning and implementation of non-commercial activities with the Region Intensive Management Forester, District Managers, District Silviculture Foresters, and other region staff in prioritizing and implementing forest health treatments and other silviculture projects. Duties include preparing contracts, monitoring budgets, spending, and allocations in addition to performing professional forestry duties including planning, prioritizing, and implementing state lands forest management activities within Northeast Region.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Qualifications<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Required Qualifications:\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Experience with Forest management objectives and silvicultural practices.<\/li>\n<li>General knowledge of Agency policies and Forest Practice Rules for reforestation requirements.<\/li>\n<li>Knowledge of contracting procedures.<\/li>\n<li>General knowledge of logging and forest road construction equipment and use.<\/li>\n<li>Ability to work independently, or as part of a team on assigned tasks.<\/li>\n<li>Ability to use computer software such as Microsoft Word and Excel.<\/li>\n<li>Position\u2019s assigned duty station is the Northeast Region Office in Colville, WA. A majority (51%) of the work is performed alone in isolated unimproved areas. The remainder (49%) of the work is performed in an office setting. Incumbent must be able to traverse uneven terrain in all weather conditions.<\/li>\n<li>Position requires occasional travel throughout the region for temporary assignments, meetings, training sessions, and fire assignments. Travel outside of the region may also be required. The incumbent in this position is required to travel.<\/li>\n<li>A valid driver\u2019s license and have two years of driving experience. This position requires driving as an essential function.
