The position provides a critical interface between the Conservation, Advancement and Administrative teams, the Executive Director, and the Board of Directors.\u00a0 The Advancement\u00a0Director will\u00a0build and\u00a0lead a\u00a0passionate and diverse\u00a0team to support the implementation of our ambitious conservation strategy. We also invest in the professional development of our staff and encourage a growth mindset.\u00a0 We are seeking an Advancement Director who will:\u00a0<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Provide the vision for how to grow our\u00a0overall fundraising program\u00a0to achieve our Conservation Agenda,\u00a0with a particular emphasis on annual fund and individual\u00a0giving;<\/li>\n<li>Hire, manage,\u00a0and lead a diverse team of fundraising,\u00a0communications,\u00a0and donor relations staff<\/li>\n<li>Ensure the execution of strategies to bring the vision to\u00a0reality;<\/li>\n<li>Oversee the Advancement Team (which includes\u00a0Development\u00a0and Communications)\u00a0by understanding,\u00a0engaging\u00a0and training staff to meet the annual fundraising objectives of Columbia Land Trust.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><u>Primary<\/u>\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Provide clear vision, supervisory leadership, and strategic direction for all aspects of Columbia Land Trust\u2019s Advancement program, including development, marketing and communications, and donor relations.<\/li>\n<li>Supervise, engage and lead a professional team including:\u00a0 Development Associate, Database Associate, Communications Manager, Communications Associate and Events Manager.<\/li>\n<li>Participate in revision of the Conservation Agenda and ensure that strategic benchmarks are met<\/li>\n<li>Hire and lead Advancement\u00a0team members\u00a0to achieve organizational and individual development goals<\/li>\n<li>Ensure that departments, staff,\u00a0and board are supported in issues related to fund development<\/li>\n<li>Uphold and advance\u00a0our\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.columbialandtrust.org\/about-us\/equity\/\">equity commitments<\/a><\/li>\n<li>Lead group and individual tours of Columbia Land Trust properties<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong><u>Supporting Activities and Knowledge<\/u>\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Develop knowledge on local and national issues to serve as an effective Land Trust spokesperson<\/li>\n<li>Engage with culturally diverse staff, donors,\u00a0and members of the public in a manner that is welcoming and inclusive<\/li>\n<li>Communicate effectively using presentation, persuasion, and negotiation skills with employees and organization stakeholders\u00a0<\/li>\n<li>Research and support best practices in all aspects of staff and board fundraising<\/li>\n<li>Ensure that systems are in place for effective donor research and\u00a0cultivation\u00a0processes; sophisticated database systems for tracking prospects, pledges, gifts, and grants; gift processing capabilities;\u00a0donor acknowledgement and recognition programs; and correspondence records<\/li>\n<li>Make use of computer databases to record and track donor information<\/li>\n<li>Work collaboratively with a spirit of cooperation with the Advancement staff and Management Team<\/li>\n<li>Work with the Executive Director and Governance chair to assess current and anticipated needs related to board composition;\u00a0identify and cultivate potential candidates<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>QUALIFICATIONS\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Columbia Land Trust expects applicants will have skills and experience relevant to the work listed above, or with similar work. However, applicants are not expected to have experience in all of these tasks in order to apply for the position.
