The EHS will primarily be working Solid Waste and Onsite Sewage programs. As an EHS, duties related to other environmental health programs will be required including Drinking Water, Food Safety, Water Quality and Vector. Work is performed both in an office and in the field requiring the employee to work in all weather conditions.<\/p>\n<div class=\"page\" title=\"Page 1\">\n<div class=\"layoutArea\">\n<div class=\"column\">\n<p><strong>EXAMPLES OF DUTIES <\/strong><span style=\"font-size: inherit;font-family: -apple-system, BlinkMacSystemFont, 'Segoe UI', Roboto, Oxygen-Sans, Ubuntu, Cantarell, 'Helvetica Neue', sans-serif\">(any one position may not include all for the duties listed nor do the listed examples include all tasks which may be found in positions in the class)<\/span><\/p>\n<div class=\"page\" title=\"Page 1\">\n<div class=\"layoutArea\">\n<div class=\"column\">\n<ul>\n<li>Monitors regulated activities for compliance with policies and codes.<\/li>\n<li>\u00a0Investigates complaints, generating corrective notices or penalties as needed for violations.<\/li>\n<li>\u00a0Inspects licensed establishments and businesses for compliance in health and safety requirements.<\/li>\n<li>\u00a0Performs field sampling for water quality analysis and reporting.<\/li>\n<li>\u00a0Assists the public with permit and construction processes and questions concerning regulations.<\/li>\n<li>\u00a0May represent the department at meetings.<\/li>\n<li>\u00a0Interprets federal, state, and local regulations relating to environmental health.<\/li>\n<li>\u00a0Reviews applications and designs for compliance with policies and codes for plats, subdivisions, SEPA, solid waste sites, septic permits, school plans, food permits, public water systems, and building permits.\u00a0<\/li>\n<li>Conducts inspections of new building sites, wells, existing sewage systems, public schools, public water systems, and food service establishments.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<div class=\"page\" title=\"Page 1\">\n<div class=\"layoutArea\">\n<div class=\"column\">\n<p><strong>MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS<\/strong><\/p>\n<div class=\"page\" title=\"Page 1\">\n<div class=\"layoutArea\">\n<div class=\"column\">\n<p>EHS: Bachelors degree, preferably in a life science, environmental health or a related field is preferred.<\/p>\n<div class=\"page\" title=\"Page 1\">\n<div class=\"layoutArea\">\n<div class=\"column\">\n<p>EHS Senior: Same as EHS, with 5 years\u2019 experience working for an Environmental Health jurisdiction.<br \/>Must possess a valid Washington State Driver\u2019s License with good driving record.
