someone with a desire to support local governments in effective shoreline management; and someone committed to continuous growth and improvement of both themselves and our shoreline management work.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><strong>What you\u2019ll do:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Developing or updating content for the Shoreline Master Program handbook and Shoreline Administrators manual for local governments.\u00a0<\/li>\n<li>Analyzing policy issues and preparing plans, reports, and other informational material to fulfill SEA program shoreline planning objectives.<\/li>\n<li>Supporting shoreline rule development and coordinating rule-making processes.<\/li>\n<li>Coordinating the Shoreline Planning Grants Program.<\/li>\n<li>Developing and maintaining planning information and resources on Ecology\u2019s Shoreline Management web pages.<\/li>\n<li>Managing and updating internal guidance and resources for SEA Program planning and permitting staff.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Qualifications<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><u>Required Qualifications:<\/u><\/strong>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><strong>Option 1:\u00a0<\/strong>A Bachelor&#8217;s degree in land use, urban, regional, environmental, or natural resource planning, landscape architecture, geography, land use or environmental law, or public administration with an environmental emphasis, or closely related field\u00a0<strong>AND\u00a0<\/strong>Four (4) years of professional experience in land use, urban, regional, environmental, or natural resource planning, and\/or program development.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Option 2:<\/strong>\u00a0A Master&#8217;s degree or above with a major emphasis in land use, urban, regional, environmental, or natural resource planning, landscape architecture, geography, land use or environmental law, public administration with an environmental emphasis, or closely related field \u00a0<strong>AND\u00a0<\/strong>Two (2) years of professional experience in land use, urban, regional, environmental, or natural resource planning, and\/or program development.<br \/>\u00a0<br \/><strong>Option 3:\u00a0<\/strong>One (1) year of experience as an Environmental Planner 2 at the Department of Ecology.\u00a0<br \/>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><strong><u>Special Requirements\/Conditions of Employment:<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n<div>\n<ul>\n<li>Must maintain a valid driver\u2019s license.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n<p><strong><u>Desired Qualifications:<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>We highly encourage you to\u00a0<strong>apply even if you do not have some (or all) of the desired experience below.<\/strong>\u00a0<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Educational background in land-use planning, shoreline management or natural resource management.<\/li>\n<li>Two (2) years of experience working for a state, federal, local, or tribal resource or planning agency.<\/li>\n<li>Two (2) years of experience in state, tribal, or local shoreline or land-use planning or permitting.<\/li>\n<li>Experience writing content for web pages. \u00a0<\/li>\n<li>Ability to: Demonstrate working knowledge of the State Shoreline Management Act and related laws and programs; the basics of shoreline processes and science; and local, state, tribal, and federal governmental structures and authorities. Identify key stakeholders concerned with shoreline management issues and understand their views and priorities.
