These emissions come from the growing, processing, transporting, storing, cooking, and disposing of the foods we eat every day, and in the wake of a climate crisis that requires a breadth of bold solutions, emissions from the food cannot be ignored. About\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.worldwildlife.org\/stories\/fight-climate-change-by-preventing-food-waste\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">6% \u2013 8%<\/a>\u00a0of human-caused emissions could be eliminated if we stopped wasting food, and plenty of other agricultural changes could significantly reduce the carbon footprint of our food.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Joining us to discuss how US states can tackle agricultural greenhouse gas emissions at the state-level are four experts in the field.\u00a0<b>Amy Brown<\/b>, the Director of Food and Agriculture Program at\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.nrdc.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">NRDC<\/a>, will discuss the enormous carbon footprint of our food system, and the tools we have to mitigate this environmental impact. Professor\u00a0<b>Ariel Ardura<\/b>, from\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/hls.harvard.edu\/dept\/clinical\/clinics\/food-law-and-policy-clinic-of-the-center-for-health-law-and-policy-innovation\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Harvard Law School Food Law and Policy Clinic<\/a>, will discuss which policies can reduce food waste. From\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/gfi.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">The Good Food Institute<\/a><b>, Emily Hennesssee<\/b>\u00a0will discuss the environmental impacts of animal agriculture, and what a transition to alternative proteins could look like.
