As a nonprofit organization, volunteers are the key to FISH\u2019s success and ability to serve our community. This job includes recruiting, maintaining volunteer schedules, training, reporting, and celebrating our volunteer team. You would work closely with our Operations Manager to fulfill organizational goals in order to serve our community well. Good computer skills and communication skills a must. We currently provide emergency nutritious food to approximately 3,500 individuals monthly including those who are unemployed\/low income, children, the elderly and individuals without homes. FISH is a nonprofit organization run by a small, paid staff and volunteers and is funded entirely by donations. We enjoy a casual but professional, friendly and fast-paced work environment.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Responsibilities<\/strong>:<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline\">General<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Contribute to organization\u2019s overall success by ensuring that FISH has enough volunteers scheduled, trained, and actively volunteering to provide for sufficient hauling, packing and pantry distribution, while maximizing client dignity, food safety, and volunteer experience.<\/p>\n<p>Model and propagate organizational culture centering on client dignity, compassion, and respect.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline\">Recruit<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Develop and maintain promotions, materials and outreach for volunteer recruitment using volunteer match sites (VolunteerMatch, Craig&#8217;s List, etc) community connections (RSVP, The Columbian, VolunTeen, WSU-V, etc) FISH website and word-of-mouth opportunities. Determine speaking opportunities for presentation about FISH volunteer needs. Determine other avenues for recruitment.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline\">Assign<\/span><\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Facilitate new volunteer communications &#8211; responding to requests via website, email, phone, and in-person. Funnel various volunteers to appropriate roles within the organization.<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Create student or group engagement opportunities, as needed. Oversee scheduling, communication, planning, and implementation of engagements.<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Collaborate among program areas for strategic\/effective use of volunteer opportunities i.e., staff tasks that can be transitioned to volunteer roles.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline\">Train<\/span><\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Determine training needs of each volunteer position.<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Develop formal training program with the assistance of the Operations Manager and team leaders.<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Oversee volunteer trainings as needed for individual program area.
