Crews will spend their season completing a variety of conservation projects throughout the region. Projects may include trail construction &amp; improvement, habitat restoration, invasive plant removal, wildland fuel reduction, and more. Crews also remain on call to help communities impacted by natural disasters.<\/p>\n<p>As a Conservation &amp; Disaster Crew Leader, you will grow as a leader and help guide your crew through the day-to-day field activities of protecting and improving our public lands.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Term dates<\/strong>: 01\/04\/2022 &#8211; 12\/09\/2022<\/p>\n<p><strong>Responsibilities<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Help guide crew through day-to-day activities in the field<\/li>\n<li>Assist in crew member orientation and training<\/li>\n<li>Constructing &amp; maintaining trails<\/li>\n<li>Erosion control<\/li>\n<li>Construction &amp; upkeep of public land features<\/li>\n<li>Remove invasive plant species<\/li>\n<li>Wildland fuel reduction<\/li>\n<li>Habitat restoration projects<\/li>\n<li>Maintaining vehicles, tools, and equipment<\/li>\n<li>Camp for up to 10 days at a time<\/li>\n<li>Assist with camp duties such as cooking &amp; dishes<\/li>\n<li>Track crew progress in the field through paper logs &amp; reports<\/li>\n<li>Transport crew &amp; equipment in 12 passenger van with an attached trailer<\/li>\n<li>Communicate with staff &amp; project partners<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Benefits<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>$1,700 per month stipend<\/li>\n<li>AmeriCorps Education Award<\/li>\n<li>Public Land Corps Hiring Authority eligibility<\/li>\n<li>Non-private student loan deferment<\/li>\n<li>First Aid &amp; CPR certification<\/li>\n<li>FEMA certifications<\/li>\n<li>Technical &amp; soft skills training<\/li>\n<li>Health insurance<\/li>\n<li>Travel &amp; camping opportunities<\/li>\n<li>Opportunity to network with partnering agencies such as Louisiana State Parks, National Park Service, US Forest Service, and more<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Requirements<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>High school diploma or GED<\/li>\n<li>Between the ages of 21-28<\/li>\n<li>At least 5 months of prior hands-on conservation experience<\/li>\n<li>US Citizenship or lawful permanent US Resident<\/li>\n<li>Ability to pass a National Service Criminal History Check<\/li>\n<li>Ability to hike 3-10 miles per day in rugged terrain, while carrying tools<\/li>\n<li>Ability to work outdoors in all weather types while doing hard, often repetitive, labor with hand &amp; power tools<\/li>\n<li>Ability to be away on overnight trips for up to 10 days at a time<\/li>\n<li>Ability to work with a diverse group of people<\/li>\n<li>Commitment to complete the entire term of service<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong><span class=\"how-apply-header\">HOW TO APPLY<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>In nature, we know that communities dominated by one plant or animal are fragile and less productive.
