You\u2019ll fundraise, mobilize people to get involved, and support some of the country\u2019s leading non-profit groups, including Environment America and PIRG. Being a director requires that you work independently, exercise good judgment and work hard to meet the office\u2019s staffing, campaign and fieldwork goals. You\u2019ll develop communication and leadership skills that will last a lifetime, and you\u2019ll be building the grassroots people power that\u2019s behind all social change. You could work on issues like tackling climate change, moving our country beyond single-use plastics, working to ban the worst uses of bee-killing pesticides, and more. We are hiring for immediate positions as well as positions beginning 2022.<\/p>\n<p><strong>You should apply to work with us if you want to:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Canvass and raise money<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Canvass three to four times a week<\/li>\n<li>Train new staff in the field<\/li>\n<li>Raise money<\/li>\n<li>Identify and activate members<\/li>\n<li>Educate the public on the issues<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Run the office<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Oversee administrative functions related to campaign goals, staff management, fundraising and membership development, and general office management<\/li>\n<li>Ensure that funds raised and member information collected gets to the partner organizations<\/li>\n<li>Complete your staff\u2019s payroll accurately and in a timely fashion<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Recruit, train and manage staff<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Recruit, hire and manage a campaign staff of 10-40 canvassers<\/li>\n<li>Train staff on effective canvassing and campaigning techniques<\/li>\n<li>Run staff meetings and skills trainings<\/li>\n<li>Evaluate staff performance and give ongoing feedback<\/li>\n<li>Identify strong staff, teach them leadership skills and promote from within<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Meet the Goals for Your Campaign<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Reach or exceed your office\u2019s fundraising and membership goals. Most offices have goals of educating 100,000 people, gathering 35,000 political actions, raising $250,000 and identifying 5,000 members each year.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Qualifications<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>We are looking for college graduates who have leadership experience and excellent communication skills, and who are willing to work hard to make lasting, positive change on important issues.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Training<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>We have an excellent training program \u2014 it\u2019s one of the things for which we\u2019re most widely recognized. All positions have a month-long initial training, most of which is spent working in an existing field office and getting hands-on training. After that, we follow up with a classroom-style training.<\/p>\n<p>Throughout the year, new and experienced canvass directors will participate in advanced trainings on staff management, canvassing, campaign strategy, media and public speaking.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Locations<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>We work on the campaigns and the issues that we think are the most pressing and set up our ground operations where we think we can make the biggest difference. We are running campaigns in CA, CO, MA, OR, TX, WA, and Washington, D.C.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Pay and Benefits<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The target annual compensation for Field Office Directors is $28,500-$35,000 in the first year, depending on the position.
