Midpen aims to recruit and retain employees who embody professionalism, accountability, and respect, who value working in an environment focused on inclusivity, diversity, and equity.<\/p>\n Under the general supervision of the Senior Resource Management Specialist for Vegetation, the IPM Coordinator will implement the District\u2019s\u00a0Integrated Pest Management Program<\/a>; apply IPM principles in the management of invasive, weedy and flammable plants and pest animals in natural park environments and facilities; has a working technical knowledge of a wide range of pest management techniques, including low toxicity pesticides, pesticide alternatives, measures to protect the health of people and the environment, techniques for tracking and evaluating hundreds of individual activities, and is accustomed to working independently and exercising sound judgment. This position requires familiarity with identification of plants, pests and sensitive environments, safety, monitoring, databases, GIS mapping, regulations, project management, hiring and oversight of contractors, and report writing. \u00a0The IPM Coordinator will advise and monitor field and office staff and contractors on IPM work; lead a multi-department team in reviewing and setting priorities for all IPM activities on approximately 65,000 acres according to District policy; train staff in IPM methods and safety; conduct field inspections; recommend appropriate treatment methods; monitor work; and report on progress of the program to the General Manager, Board of Directors, and public. Additional requirements include: PC and MS Office Suite proficiency; excellent oral and written communication skills; and strong interpersonal skills. \u00a0The position will also be responsible for leading and assisting on other natural resource projects in the department as assigned.<\/p>\n A Few Reasons Why You May Love This Job<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n Work Environment:<\/u><\/strong>\u00a0 This position requires on-site work in an office environment at Midpen\u2019s offices in Los Altos, California and will regularly report to the field. Field work will require driving in remote areas on dirt roads, working in temperatures ranging from cold and windy to hot and dry, and hiking through steep terrain and wildland areas. Ideal candidates will be comfortable working in these types of field conditions, as well as in an office environment.<\/p>\n Education and Experience<\/strong>:<\/u>\u00a0 We realize your time is valuable, so please apply only if you have at least the required minimum qualifications outlined here: any combination of training and experience that would provide the required knowledge, skills, and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the required qualifications would be:<\/p>\n equivalent to graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with major coursework in natural resource management, environmental design, ecology, biology, botany, horticulture, agricultural sciences or a related field, and (3) three years of professional experience in integrated pest management preferably in natural parks, open space, or related field, including at least (1) year of administrative responsibility. \u00a0\u00a0One (1) year of supervisory responsibility and a master\u2019s degree is desirable.<\/p>\n Licenses & Certifications Required:<\/u><\/strong>\u00a0\u00a0 Possession of a valid California Driver\u2019s License.
