Many duties require in-person work, while some duties may be performed at home as appropriate. Masks are required inside the facility and while working with other staff, volunteers, students and visitors. If any staff person or their cohabitant is sick, that staff person is required to stay home. Proof of being fully vaccinated against COVID-19 is required and will be verified at time of start date. Medical or religious exemptions will be considered.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Position Summary<\/strong>:<\/p>\n<p>The Nisqually Reach Nature Center (NRNC) is looking for an enthusiastic experienced person<br \/>\ninterested in managing our estuarine environmental science education program. Reporting to the Executive Director, the Education Director supports NRNC\u2019s mission by providing youth and adults with high-quality educational programming related to the Nisqually Estuary. The Education Director ensures students gain access, exposure, and understanding of the Nisqually Estuary by using inquiry-based science activities on the beach. This position directs and manages NRNC\u2019s summer camps, which aim to provide youth with a lasting positive connection to the Nisqually Estuary. This position creates new programs and curriculum for summer camps and field trips. New programs revolve around current issues concerning South Puget Sound, the Nisqually Watershed, and local flora and fauna.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Essential Duties:<\/strong><br \/>\nManage and direct NRNC environmental science education programs (e.g. field trips and summer camps)<\/li>\n<li>\u00a0Lead and create educational programs and hands-on curriculum that supports NRNC\u2019s mission and is aligned with Next Generation Science Standards<\/li>\n<li>\u00a0Partner with organizations to provide high quality education opportunities to underserved student<br \/>\npopulations<\/li>\n<li>Recruit, train, and supervise education program volunteers and other education staff<\/li>\n<li>\u00a0Coordinate and lead environmental education trips<\/li>\n<li>\u00a0Coordinate and attend community outreach events<\/li>\n<li>Build and maintain partnerships with organizations to increase educational opportunities<\/li>\n<li>\u00a0Oversee creation of outreach materials and methods to advertise education programs<\/li>\n<li>\u00a0Attend monthly board meetings to report on education programs<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Required Qualifications &amp; Skills:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>A Bachelor\u2019s degree in education, biology, ecology, environmental science, natural science, aquatic<br \/>\nscience, fisheries, or closely related field and 1 year of experience in education, environmental education, marine sciences, natural sciences, or a closely allied field<\/li>\n<li>Has knowledge of environmental education, marine science biological systems, tidal charts, watershed &amp; estuarine ecosystems, data management, and Puget Sound aquatic species<\/li>\n<li>\u00a0Demonstrated public speaking and\/or teaching experience<\/li>\n<li>\u00a0Ability to obtain the Wilderness First Responder certificate<\/li>\n<li>\u00a0Knowledge in outdoor skills and overnight camping with students<\/li>\n<li>\u00a0Ability to attend conferences, meetings, or other events that require travel<\/li>\n<li>\u00a0Strong project management skills and ability to meet deadlines<\/li>\n<li>\u00a0Analytical problem-solving ability<\/li>\n<li>\u00a0Ability to manage multiple priorities and perform within deadlines<\/li>\n<li>\u00a0Excellent communication, writing, and interpersonal skills<\/li>\n<li>\u00a0Able to work with minimal supervision while understanding the necessity for communicating and<br \/>\ncoordinating work efforts with others<\/li>\n<li>\u00a0Must be able to develop a work plan and perform in a team environment<\/li>\n<li>\u00a0Computer proficiency: word processing, spreadsheets, Internet research, and databases<\/li>\n<li>\u00a0Performs work with utmost honesty and integrity<\/li>\n<li>\u00a0Criminal background check is required<\/li>\n<li>\u00a0Understands and appreciates the importance of extraordinary customer service<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>To Apply:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Email resume with detailed employment history and cover letter describing your interest and how you<br \/>\nare qualified for this position to Daniel Hull, Executive Director at: <a href=\"mailto:danielhull@nisquallyestuary.org\">danielhull@nisquallyestuary.org<\/a>.
