The Restoration Technician will work directly with field crews to implement invasive plant removal, habitat restoration, and project monitoring. Activities will be conducted along the San Joaquin River in both Fresno and Madera counties.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Project Duties:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The Restoration Technician will implement all aspects of the Trust\u2019s grant funded habitat restoration projects, including:<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Invasive weed removal, herbicide application, drip irrigation system installation\/maintenance, planting, and project monitoring.<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Completing field work independently and\/or cooperatively in a professional and timely matter.<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Supervising and training field crews to ensure a high quality of work.<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Enforcing and adhering to all permit regulations.<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Assessing potential job site hazards.<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Leading volunteer workdays.<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Assisting with the maintenance properties and all field equipment.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Desired Qualifications:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>\u2022 High School Diploma. A Bachelor\u2019s Degree or coursework in ecology or similar natural resources field is preferred.<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Knowledge of riparian habitats and vegetation native or invasive to California.<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Experience with GPS technology.<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Experience with field data collection and mapping.<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Ability and willingness to receive certification in pesticide application.<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Ability to work outdoors on uneven terrain in both hot and cold weather while at times performing strenuous physical labor.<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Strong leadership abilities with problem solving and adaptive management skills.<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Excellent verbal and written communication skills.<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Experience working with a variety of outdoor tools and equipment including small engines.<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Bilingual in Spanish or Hmong<\/p>\n<p><strong>Job Conditions:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>This is a field position. The applicant must be able to lift and carry at least 50 pounds, work bending over as well as standing or sitting. They must also be able to walk 6-10 miles during the day, and drive work vehicles with trailers to various project sites along the San Joaquin River. Job conditions vary by season (extremely hot summer and frosty winter days).<\/p>\n<p><strong>Desired Certifications:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Valid driver\u2019s license and clean driving record (Required)<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Qualified Applicator\u2019s Certificate or License.<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Certification or experience as a lifeguard.
