Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis; we encourage candidates to\u00a0submit\u00a0<a class=\"external-link\" title=\"Link leaves our site, opens a new window\" href=\"https:\/\/apps.ecology.wa.gov\/wcc\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">online applications<\/a>\u00a0early. Members will begin their terms\u00a0Monday, Oct. 4.<\/p>\n<div class=\"lead-section\">\n<h5>Build your path to the future!<\/h5>\n<p>Our Washington Conservation Corps (WCC) is your chance to gain hands-on experience in the environmental field. As an AmeriCorps program, we create future leaders through community involvement and mentorship. We have more than 350 members and experienced staff statewide who restore critical habitat, build trails, and respond to local and national disasters.<\/p>\n<p>The majority of our AmeriCorps member positions are 11-month crew positions, in which members serve on crews of five members led by a WCC crew supervisor. There are limited nine-month and three-month positions offered in spring and summer. We also provide\u00a015\u00a0Individual Placement positions that are typically limited to 11-month positions only. All members earn a bi-weekly living allowance, and an AmeriCorps Education Award upon successfully completing a term.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Who can apply?<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Applicants must be 18-25 years of age on the first day of their service term.<\/li>\n<li>Applicants must be eligible for AmeriCorps:\n<ul>\n<li>AmeriCorps limits members to serving a maximum of four terms in any AmeriCorps program.<\/li>\n<li>AmeriCorps legislation requires applicants to be one of the following: U.S. Citizen, U.S. National, or Lawful Permanent U.S. Resident Alien. If selected, applicants must submit citizenship documentation prior to service.<\/li>\n<li>Eligible candidates will undergo a National Service criminal history check prior to service (includes state repositories, National Sex Offender Registry, and FBI).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>Washington legislation limits service in the WCC program to a maximum of\u00a0two years.<\/li>\n<li>Applicants must commit to a 40-hour\u00a0service week and a designated term of service of 11-months, 6-months, or 3-months.<\/li>\n<li>Per legislative mandate, priority is given to Washington state residents.<\/li>\n<li>AmeriCorps members are subject to Governor Inslee&#8217;s\u00a0vaccine mandate; members beginning service terms\u00a0in October 2021 are required to show proof of\u00a0full vaccination by Oct. 18.<\/li>\n<li>If selected, WCC members must provide for their own living arrangements and transportation to designated meet-up locations:\n<ul>\n<li>Crews have a designated meet-up location, and travel to project sites together in a WCC truck.\u00a0<strong>Note:\u00a0<\/strong>To support the state&#8217;s response to\u00a0COVID-19, we are currently supporting member travel to project sites or meet-up locations in single occupancy vehicles.\u00a0We will continue to update our travel guidance as we follow the Governor&#8217;s Road to Recovery for Washington, and\u00a0will be able to travel together with safety precautions when statewide guidance allows.\u00a0<\/li>\n<li>We provide food, lodging facilities, and transportation for crews (or reimbursement) when overnight travel is required to complete project assignments.<\/li>\n<li>Individual Placements will generally report to their designated host site location each day. Host site organizations are responsible for food, lodging facilities, and transportation when overnight travel is required to complete project assignments.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><em>Age restrictions are based on legislative mandate, limited exceptions may be made for those who have served or are serving in the military and active duty dependents. In addition, leadership (non-member) positions, and participants with a sensory or mental disability are not subject to this age restriction.<\/em><br \/><em>Out-of-state candidates are considered after in-state candidate pools have been exhausted.<\/em><\/p>\n<h2>Member recruitment schedule<\/h2>\n<p>The WCC operates on an AmeriCorps calendar, meaning each service year runs October through September. When positions open, interviews are conducted on a continuous basis until vacancies are filled. To ensure consideration, we recommend submitting your application early. All 300 of our\u00a0AmeriCorps member positions open\u00a0annually in July\u00a0as part of the 11-month member recruitment cycle, while 9-month and 3-month positions are\u00a0limited in quantity (based on vacancies as they occur).<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>11-month positions \u2014 Applications accepted beginning in July for a start date in October.<\/li>\n<li>9-month positions \u2014 Applications accepted beginning in November\u00a0for a start date in January.<\/li>\n<li>3-month positions \u2014\u00a0Applications accepted beginning in April for a start date in June.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>Member positions &#8211; now recruiting!<\/h3>\n<p>We are recruiting 11-month AmeriCorps members for Individual Placement positions and field crews.
