District Wildlife Biologist, \u00a0 \u00a0<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Develops and conducts ground, aerial and wildlife surveys\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0\u00a0<\/strong><strong>Tasks include:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Seabird counts, shorebird counts, big game surveys, waterfowl counts, ecosystem surveys for species of greatest conservation need, surveys for peregrine falcons, passerines, herptiles, invertebrates and other species as needed.<\/li>\n<li>Developing project proposals for integration into work plans.<\/li>\n<li>Long hours in fixed wing and helicopters performing aerial surveys.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Serves as a technical advisor to various interest groups and agency work groups.\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0<\/strong><strong>Tasks include:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Serving on District teams, various recreation coalition groups, Conservation Initiative teams.<\/li>\n<li>Participate in conservation strategy development and implementation for species of greatest conservation need.\u00a0<\/li>\n<li>Responsible for support, administration, and reporting of the Department\u2019s Island Marble Butterfly Candidate Conservation with Assurances Agreement (CCAA).<\/li>\n<li>Participate in Tribal co-manager meetings<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>\u00a0<strong>Analyzes data and writes and presents reports for a variety of audiences.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0\u00a0<\/strong><strong>Tasks include:\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Writing up data driven reports for publication in various formats.<\/li>\n<li>Working with statistical software to analyze data<\/li>\n<li>Providing data to WDFW data stewards and interpret data to various audiences.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Supervises Staff.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0<\/strong><strong>Tasks include:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Supervising, training, and mentoring technical and professional level staff.<\/li>\n<li>Setting goals and objectives, developing strategies to implement, and developing performance measurements and standards for the purpose of ensuring individual and program performance objectives are met.<\/li>\n<li>Managing personnel issues relating to staff conflicts, absenteeism, performance issues.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Participates in all aspects of hunting\/access issues in District 13.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>\u00a0<\/strong><strong>\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 Tasks include:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Leading regional efforts on mountain goat work, writing reports, and answering questions from the public.<\/li>\n<li>Supporting outreach to benefit species of greatest conservation need\u00a0<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>WORKING CONDITIONS:\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Work Setting, including hazards:\u00a0<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ol>\n<li>Operate watercraft in fresh and salt water, conduct aerial surveys in fixed wing and helicopter aircraft, hike alone in rugged terrain<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Schedule:\u00a0<\/strong>\n<ol>\n<li>Typically, Monday \u2013 Friday \u2013 8 hrs.\/day \u2013 5 days a week.\u00a0<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/li>\n<li><strong>Travel interaction with all Washingtonians. \u00a0<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<h4>Qualifications<\/h4>\n<p><strong>REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<div>\n<ul>\n<li>Bachelor of Science degree in a natural resource field\u00a0<strong>AND<\/strong>\u00a0three (3) years of professional experience in fish, wildlife, or habitat management or research, wildlife management or wildlife research, or habitat management or habitat research.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n<p><strong>Please Note:\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>A Master&#8217;s degree in the applicable science will substitute for one (1) year of the required experience.<\/li>\n<li>A Ph.D. in the applicable science will substitute for two (2) years of the required experience.\u00a0<\/li>\n<li>Seven (7) years of related experience will substitute for the required education.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Certifications\/Licenses:\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<div>\n<ul>\n<li>A valid Driver&#8217;s License.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n<p><strong>Job experience in:<\/strong><\/p>\n<div>\n<ul>\n<li>Conducting aerial surveys over water.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n<p><strong>\u00a0<\/strong><strong>PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>MS degree in a natural resource field, knowledge of seabirds, shorebirds, waterfowl, deer, mountain goats, insects and herptiles.<\/li>\n<li>Competent in aerial identification of waterfowl including sea ducks.<\/li>\n<li>Experience with large data sets and familiarity with data management and analysis using GIS and statistical
